Pros

MN Studios are independently owned and operated. Many of the reviews here with high ratings, are from MN studios NOT Corp. Office in Los Angeles. MN had a few pros, but not many. At the time (2014) they offered .25 cent lunch, free breakfast, onsite dental office, and pretty good insurance ($200/ per month for family of 4). That was about it. From time to time you could purchase discounted product from the employee store, but only when it was open. The owner only trusted 1 or 2 people to run the store, so when they couldn't open the store, it remained closed.

Cons

Oh the Cons, the Cons. Put your running shoes on and run away from the MN Corp job posting as fast as you can! This place has NO respect for their employees! Let's start with pay. You will be paid well BELOW the industry average, and when you did get a raise it was 1%; yep 1%. What a joke! We live in CA and we couldn't even get a cost of living increase annually. There is a total snitching mentality at MN Corp. You have a few employees that LIVE to run and tell the big boss everything they see. If you pick your nose, Helen and her goons will know! Employees are talked down to, like they are children. HR doesn't have a clue what they are doing. They don't believe in digital advertising. Directors and managers are scared to speak up in fear of the backlash. Employees that work with studio owners daily, suggestions to improve areas of concern are totally discredited. They will pay tons of $$$$ to brown nose with USC Alum, and take care of their fancy car collection, but will not invest to MN. ....and the list goes on and on and on. If you can help it, don't waste your time with this place. It's a ticking time bomb. If you must work here, plan your exit strategy on your first day!

Pros

Dentist onsite, free breakfast, 25 cent lunch, discount on makeup, some nice people to work with. 20 word minimum for pros and there are no more pros and that is the truth.

Cons

Most reviews are talking about a Merle Norman store that's owned by a Franchise owner. I'm talking about Corporate Office. Upper management and the owners don't care about anyone but themselves. HR treats you like you are in middle school. NO ONE has gotten a raise in over 4 years. If you are non exempt employee and are more than 5 minutes late the day before or the day after a holiday, you do NOT get holiday pay. HR has this attendance list that requires upper management of each department write down who is late, but the kicker is.. Even if you are exempt you are written down as being late. HR isn't very nice and they don't know much, you go in asking questions and they can't answer. There were a lot of people who got hired and left in the same year. People are dropping like flies.

Pros

Lunch is $0.25 and food is fairly good, morning break hard boiled eggs, oatmeal and pastries along with coffee, tea and other beverages. Employees store discounts. Most of your co-workers are really nice.

Cons

No coffee allowed at your desk, negative signs everywhere, tattletales always willing to get you in trouble, tons of rules, no grace period on time clock, employees are spoken to like they're children. If you are more than one minute late the day after a holiday, you won't get paid for the holiday. Morale is very low. New ideas aren't considered. Many people are still using Microsoft Office 2003. Everyone talks about how great the company used to be. Most people haven't had a raise in 10 years. A toxic environment.
