A lot of time is dedicated to talking about how great they are as opposed to actually walking the talk and showing that what's important is actually important. Brand is promoted by relentlessly repeating what a good culture they have, when the reality is that it seems what management is constantly trying to accomplish is figuring out the next person to fire. HR has 0 credibility. Culture walked out the door about 4 years ago. But the money is good!

Unfortunately, Methanex does a great job of painting a "One Team" picture from the outside. Once you are in the organization, that façade starts to crack. People who have been there for several years have become very disillusioned and bitter. The SMT (Site Management Team) sends out surveys, asks the right questions and puts on the right face. But, when it comes to action, they just cannot seem to take a good look in the mirror. They have let their best talent go (voluntarily and involuntarily), and still can't accept that they are at the head of the problem. Vacancies stay high - word has traveled around the area that the Geismar site is highly toxic. Speaking up has consequences. Employees are singled out and made examples of. The company as a whole has a great culture message and theme - it just does not exist at the Geismar location.
