Pros

For librarians the institution is small enough that you can gain a lot of varied experiences in an academic libray. In addition to a primary job you can contribute in many others ways.

Cons

Salaries. To many professionals are UNDERcompensated in part because administration has limited idea of what librarians are doing and therefore do NOT recognize that for a 21st century information system libraries are essential for students, staff and faculty. They are used to quite people who do NOT make waves, but that is changing and I think with change salaries will increase.
