Pros

Hands-on environment means you'll get to understand business operations end to end. Teams are generally professional and knowledgeable. Over the years I've seen many teams pull long hours in order to fix problems, launch products and serve customers.

Cons

1. Management has lost their way. Over the years I've seen them make bigger and bolder promises, but never actually deliver on any of them. MyRepublic used to have clear goals and a vision. That doesn't exist anymore. 2. Disconnect between management and the actual operations of the company has never been more apparent. They want to chase big unrealistic numbers, but never empower any of their teams to do so. Budgets are cut, resources are limited. They want a rocket to the moon, but only pay $5. They're no longer aspirational, just delusional. Big promises come at the expense of people's livelihoods. 3. Recent retrenchment exercise was poorly executed and communicated. I can only conclude that they either don't care, or don't know how to lead the company. We've become nothing more than numbers in an excel sheet.

Hi there! Thank you for the advice to the Senior Management, we were pleased to welcome new members to our Management Team to help us clarify our roadmap and plans for the future. With our new team members and the changes to the way we operate and are structured we know we can do better. The Voice of the Employee survey conducted in July offered all staff the opportunity to share their feedback on leadership, in addition to other areas of our business. This was gratefully received and we have already started to action many points of feedback, especially around communication, transparency and decision making. We are sorry that you feel that the recent retrenchment exercise was not executed well. Going through a process like that is never easy, for those impacted and those that remain. We made every effort to ensure staff that were impacted were treated fairly and sensitively and the reason for the decision have been made clear. I can assure you that you are not just numbers on a spreadsheet and we believe that as we are able to invest in our business you will see how much we regard you and you colleagues. - Sally, Chief People Officer

Pros

After nearly a decade, there's still no process in place. So you can define whatever processes you deem fit.

Cons

Management is more concerned about catching the next unicorn rather than maintenance. They also have the attention span of a 3 year old, jumping from one project to the next.

Unrealistic timelines, messy

Pros

Fancy benefits being introduced, work from home, work from anywhere. Some front-line managers are good, some are not good - it depends on your luck. MyRepublic started years ago on the right footing, and have developed a brand for being a game changer in the Singapore broadband industry, and still holds some of this brand reputation but it is slowly eroding.

Cons

Upper management/executive levels are dreaming of IPO, setting unrealistic expectations for projects. Not enough mid-level management handling execution, too many exec level management talking and showing powerpoint slides. Tech delivery teams lacking engineering managers, project mangers, analysts, etc. No time spent to address technical debt in basic engineering, yet dreaming of doing fancy Metaverse, AR/VR, Blockchain. Engineering not consulted on timeline for tasks, all timeline is top-down and non-negotiable - once in a while is OK, but not every time. When internal teams want to deliver a good customer experience, timeline crunch causes shortcuts and delivers poor customer experience, which affects revenue, and then when time comes for bonuses, raises... Internal systems are a mess - old systems, new systems, silo systems, undocumented integrations, no owners (people have left, etc.) Many new HR processes that are still changing, unclear - mid-management will be overwhelmed trying to manage both up and down. There are good people, but many slowly getting jaded and leaving. Unstructured hiring process invites poor and varying employee quality. Pay attention to how your hiring manager interviews you.
