Pros

The people I worked with were awesome.

Cons

In the Operations department, the management (female) is a bully, abusive, and just an overall awful person. I was set up to fail with zero training (1 day collectively). Unrealistic expectations. Expected to work hours and hours of overtime, despite the time of day (emails in the middle of the night) with NO compensation, in fact I was denied time off saying the weeks of overtime I put in were expected with the job, despite the first month saying it would be considered "equal PTO". I would often receive emails or texts between 10pm-2am, consequences if I did not respond in a timely manner, prior to the work day. HR, little to no help. This is not coming from an angle of a disgruntled employee, I have been in the admin working field for 30+ years, I have never encountered a "manager" that is allowed to operate in this manner or to this degree. Her life is her work and therefore expects yours to be as well. Think twice about accepting work in this department, other than the rest of the co-workers here being wonderful. Come to find out, I was the 7-8th person to have this job in less years, what does that tell you?

Pros

Most of my co-workers (excluding management) were decent to work with.

Cons

Appalling management in Finance and Accounting, originating from the CFO. No matter how dedicated you are, her “I’m the boss so you have to slave around the clock for me but I’ll still never be happy” mentality is tough to put up with…as are her demeaning comments at every meeting. Even more troubling is her lack of basic respect for people’s health. Most employees were certain she would have kept them in the office at the start of the pandemic if it weren’t for the government mandate, even as it was clear COVID was a serious health risk and all other nearby companies had shut down in-person activities. Employee well-being is the very, very last thing on her mind. The Finance/Accounting department managers never specify what the expectations for a particular role are, making it very easy (and extremely common) for them to distort people’s job duties and increase work loads. Working late and on weekends is a norm, as is the constantly putting out fires that arise everyday. There is also a TON of pressure on new hires to get up to speed yet onboarding is pretty spotty. Also, management keeps blaming the pandemic market conditions for turnover but people started leaving this department en masse well before that. A number of recent hires left in under three months citing no work-life balance and a strange department culture. The temps never seem to accept full-time roles for the same reasons. At the slightest sign of financial trouble, the company jumps straight to cutting employee bonuses. This is not easy to deal with since the pay and benefits are not great to begin with. Salary/title negotiations are said to be futile and filled with vague timelines and promises. Overall, this department is known to have a very different culture than the company as a whole. While most departments place some focus on culture and reasonable working hours, Finance and Accounting burdens its employees to no end. The department's issues have become something of a joke among the other departments.
