Sad. It's sad when management has absolutely no idea how to ... well ... manage.
Pros
- I can't say this enough. The marketing team in London is one of those rare combinations of professionalism and good spirit. The only reason I am sorry to leave is that I won't work with these guys anymore. - With a few awkward exceptions, the work atmosphere is ok. Those exceptions I will mention below at cons. - The London new office also seems ok. Had expected worse from a corporation.
Cons
- Management. - Management. - Management. - The CEO overlooking all of our moves when in the office and taking mental notes of who leaves when. I mean ... Get a life! - Speaking of the CEO, I have to mention the lack of vision coming from the leadership. The London office came into being because of whatever business plans. They basically established the London office but didn't back it up and didn't communicate its position or role to the other regions. The lack of clarity when it comes to the business hierarchy is slowly killing every initiative, from little things, like writing marketing emails, to big projects, like launching a new product. I mean, how ridiculous is to send a simple marketing email back and forth 5-6 times for approval just to satisfy egos? I guess this goes back to points 1-3. - Having to dial in for calls at completely indecent times (late at night or really early in the morning) without having anyone recognizing the work/life balance. I mean, just because there are some who don't have a life outside work, this doesn't mean everybody is like that. It didn't really happen a lot to me but I saw this at most of my colleagues.
