Pros
After being with the company for only a few years, I'm struggling of thinking of something positive to say. Most of the people I liked and respected have moved on some time ago because they can't bear the culture or been laid-off.
Cons
Where to start. This is a company that's been circling the drain for a while - I keep thinking it's on it's last gurgle but it seems to always manage another rotation. I really can't comprehend the modus-operandi of the the people at the top. There's a repeated pattern of under-investment in technology and over-selling of the product. The inevitable outcome is dissatisfied customers and a lack of repeat business. They struggle on with occasional big wins, hire people, fail to deliver (well) and layoff staff. Every time there's a problem they fling some unsuspecting engineer across the globe to put the fire out without any support - presumably as a blame shield. The customers are wising up now, this time the company had to turn away a big contract because of the stringent penalty clauses - clauses that wouldn't have been an issue if the company had good software it could deliver on-time. Which brings me on to my next point. The software quality and practices are astounding - and not in a good way. The code base for the major products is a decade old and looks like it was written by people that hated humanity and the future. There's never time to fix it and all attempts at replacing it get canned because they don't contribute to the bottom line RIGHT NOW. So junior engineers (the only ones who last, they're cheap) keep pilling on more of the same. It's beyond salvage.
