Pros

After being with the company for only a few years, I'm struggling of thinking of something positive to say. Most of the people I liked and respected have moved on some time ago because they can't bear the culture or been laid-off.

Cons

Where to start. This is a company that's been circling the drain for a while - I keep thinking it's on it's last gurgle but it seems to always manage another rotation. I really can't comprehend the modus-operandi of the the people at the top. There's a repeated pattern of under-investment in technology and over-selling of the product. The inevitable outcome is dissatisfied customers and a lack of repeat business. They struggle on with occasional big wins, hire people, fail to deliver (well) and layoff staff. Every time there's a problem they fling some unsuspecting engineer across the globe to put the fire out without any support - presumably as a blame shield. The customers are wising up now, this time the company had to turn away a big contract because of the stringent penalty clauses - clauses that wouldn't have been an issue if the company had good software it could deliver on-time. Which brings me on to my next point. The software quality and practices are astounding - and not in a good way. The code base for the major products is a decade old and looks like it was written by people that hated humanity and the future. There's never time to fix it and all attempts at replacing it get canned because they don't contribute to the bottom line RIGHT NOW. So junior engineers (the only ones who last, they're cheap) keep pilling on more of the same. It's beyond salvage.

Pros

The companies pay is moderately in-line with other privately held companies. Unfortunately at the rate the company is sinking it is difficult to find many Pros. It may be possible to luck out and get some shares of the company when they are sold off, which is inevitable at this point. If you are a Junior level Software Engineer and don't mind living in Sebastian, FL this could be a nice place to work for a year or two. Don't expect to make a Career out of the company and you won't be disappointed or surprised when you are laid off due to a missed sale. The company offers access to numerous technologies ranging from SNMP, TL1 to Java and Service Buses.

Cons

* Only interested in getting as much money from customers before they realize the product doesn't work. This is the key focus on the Sales and Business team. Keep this in mind when your tasks are assigned. * If you don't tow the company line and pretend the product is the best product in the market you will be let go and seen as "not a team player." Constructive criticism of the product, marketing strategy and the like is NOT tolerated. * Only interested in hiring junior level engineers with the hopes they can fix enough bugs to make a sell. (Read: Low paid salary) * Headquarters is located in the middle of no where which is unfortunate as Melbourne, FL would have been a much better spot considering all of the Government and Space Coast talent. * Expected to give up your life in order to bail out the Sales team when they promise features that don't exist * Expected to give up your life in order to bail out the Business team when the Customer threatens to sue due to the product not working.

Pros

Our company was purchased by NetBoss Technologies and the transition team showed up with logo shirts and coffee mugs in hand to introduce themselves. They were friendly and interested in our work, and how we felt our work could be integrated into the existing NetBoss operations.

Cons

The acquisition started with only a seemingly random selection of half of the original work force invited to join NetBoss. After four and a half weeks of interrogation the remainder of the workforce, but for two lone survivors, was culled and let go after only six weeks.
