Layoffs and pay cuts

Pros

The ability to work remotely

Cons

No job security. On December 1, a bunch of employees were suddenly and unceremoniously kicked to the curb. The reason given was that investors had not yet come through with funding. During the call to announce our fate, the CEO admitted that leadership could have done more to secure the funding. If that's the case, why didn't they? Why didn't leadership do what it was supposed to do so that good, hard-working, talented people weren't kicked to the curb? And the manner which these layoffs occurred was the most de-humanizing exercise I have ever experienced in a workplace. After the fateful meeting, all employees received an email. The emails said whether your job was retained or eliminated. It felt as if we were having lots cast. And to add insult to injury, one of the HR people whose job was affected had to conduct the informational meeting for the layoff victims. Oh, and more good news. There wasn't even a proper severance package, just a two-week continuation of salary, and they didn't even offer employment counseling, which has become somewhat standard for layoffs. But the "survivors" weren't left unscathed. They had some days furloughed (read: unpaid) during the holidays and are subjected to an across-the-board pay cut. I would not recommend New Meridian unless and until new leadership is put in place.

Pros

Ambitious mission, very nice dedicated people.

Cons

Too many levels of managers. Poor internal communication, Some really nice people that aren't great at their jobs (possibly due to poor internal communication).
