Pros

Very friendly and relaxed environment with lots of personable people. Management sets goals but definitely does not micro manage so as long as you are performing, there is not much pressure. The company works with a lot of different retailers so there are usually fun projects going on. They are closed for religious holidays so there is a lot of extra time off. The pay is competitive to much more corporately structured environments so this is a no-brainer.

Cons

The kitchen is usually not stocked with much coffee/snacks

Pros

Early Friday's and paid Jewish holidays. The office has many windows and good lighting. This is one plus while working. View of 5th avenue. No need to punch a clock here.

Cons

Salary is very poor. Very little room for growth in terms of experience AND compensation. Raises, promotions, and bonuses are difficult to come by at NYAG. There is usually no travel at this company due to budget. Trend shopping is scarce, and only local. Management is ok, but their lack of design knowledge makes it difficult to work with and see eye to eye on many ideas. Sample and design tool budget here is strict. This is an old company that is used to doing business in an old school way. Very small company with few designers, so projects are VERY scattered and inconsistent. Accessory designers usually find themselves completing tasks outside their title as graphic designers, packaging designers, storage organizers, showroom assistants, etc. making it difficult to focus on your role here and truly grow in an area. Because tasks are so scattered, and coworkers are usually not on the same page, this makes it very difficult to maintain an accurate and concise artwork archive. Roles/titles must be negotiated at the start of work as there are no boundaries here.
