Pros

Pay is ok, but not worth the stress that comes with working for NordCloud.

Cons

Where to start on this complete ****show ? NC has no customers of it's own and lives off of table scraps handed down by the parent company, IBM. Obviously, this work is neither innovative or interesting as IBM want to keep that for themselves. The relationship with IBM can only be described as antagonistic and unlikely to change any time soon. Revenue is down year on year and attrition is at an all time high both from redundancies and people leaving for greener pastures. All of management's conversations are only about financials and it's clear that it's the bottom line that they care about and not growing a business or the employees in the business. Anyone who's left is either a shell of themselves or is absolutely cutthroat and ruthless and only looking out for their own interests and won't be afraid to backstab a co-worker. Management retaliation is also a very real issue. Management is very hands on to keep up appearances but none of the crippling issues seem to get fixed. And if you've not guessed already, the workplace culture is non existent at best and toxic at worst. In summary ,there far better places to work at and my advice is to stay as far away from this cluster grope as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to give your views. Nordcloud and IBM see strong collaboration, working with the largest organisations in the UK, as the most effective way to grow both businesses fast in the cloud market. This approach has proven successful in driving substantial growth so far. That said, Nordcloud still has its own customers and a direct to market channel. IBM have made commitments to Nordcloud that they see Nordcloud as their home for technical cloud talent and have asked us to continue to hire and grow in this area. Whilst the attrition in the UK remains low we have had to make some tough decisions with restructures and redundancies, moving focus from areas we have seen less demand, towards areas we see rapid growth in demand. We understand that this is an unfortunate part of the changes in the market. Redundancy is hard for all involved and will always be the last resort The culture that the Leadership Team have tried to foster at Nordcloud is one where the discussions are open - both with good news and on occasion bad. We are aware that the UK have tried to keep regular dialogue with all involved via regular weekly, monthly and quarterly all hands sessions, inviting feedback via comments and polls on direction etc. We would be grateful if you could provide more specific feedback or examples regarding your concerns. We’d encourage you to reach out to us at letusknow@nordcloud.com to discuss further. This will help us address any gaps and make necessary improvements.

Pros

- Lots of great people and a great community amongst the staff - A very social office and culture - Compensation was fair at the start

Cons

Where to start.... Our recent Great Places to Work survey speaks volumes, where we scored in the very low 60's across the board. This is largely down to a very poor UK leader and global leadership who have made a series of terrible decisions which, unfortunately alot of my colleagues and friends have paid the price for this through a series of secret redundancies. - UK Leader - Openly abusive in the office and treats the rest of the SLT like children, anybody else speaking like this to colleagues would face HR. - Series of terrible decisions which have became famously known as his tag line "Bad bets, and bad investments" this has resulted in a number of redundancies, there is zero job security here. - UK leader likes to change direction at short notice, if challenged, you will be face a barrage of abuse. This has created a culture of fear. - Feed off the scraps of IBM, which means we are constantly scraping the barrel to hit targets. This also creates a culture of uncertainty over our jobs, as IBM has all the skills we have, so Nordcloud UK may get absorbed into IBM in the coming year or two. - Projects always seem to go into the red, through poor project initiation and management, again the UK leader likes to get over involved and causes more problems than necessary, bullying and treating staff horribly in the process. - We have lost some exceptional talent over the last year at the expense of cutting cost and hitting year end targets to satisfy IBM and ultimately leadership personal KPI's. - Benefits are non-existent and not worth the tax we pay on them. - Not had a pay rise for a year and a half, then was offered a measly tiny percentage increase on my salary before the holidays, it was an insult and does not reflect market value. Again, this is to satisfy leaderships KPI's with IBM so they can get their big payout. For anyone thinking of joining us, steer clear, many of us want to leave the minute the market opens up in the new year.

Lackluster Leadership & Frustratingly Ambiguous Communication

Pros

Many strong individuals, good middle-management, if you're lucky some salaries are high (others are not). Good development opportunities. Because of the issues below, I find it challenging to recommend Nordcloud as a workplace. However, if you are resilient and can find solace in a good middle management team, it may be possible to navigate through the organizational challenges and find satisfaction in your role.

Cons

It is with great disappointment that I write this review. While the company boasts some impressive projects and dedicated middle management and fantastic employees across many areas, the lack of effective leadership, an absent CEO, dishonest communication, and an alarming number of senior individuals burying their heads in the sand have created a toxic work environment. Leadership: The leadership is, unfortunately, poor. The absence of a visible and engaged CEO leaves a significant void in terms of any sort of culture or human leadership. It means that, despite many of us having faith in their business acumen, decisions are made and communicated poorly, left with middle management to deliver ‘bad news’, whilst leadership portray positive messages on company calls (where hard questions are often filtered and not answered). It leaves many employees feeling that the leadership team seems disconnected and disinterested in the well-being and development of their employees. Communication: Honest and open communication is crucial for a healthy work environment, yet it is sorely lacking. The leadership team consistently fails to provide honest information, often resorting to dishonest tactics or outright silence. This lack of transparency creates confusion and frustration among employees, making it difficult to trust the company's direction or intentions. Despite this, many managers are willing to help with the trickle-down of information. But this often feels like it has to be done in the absence of leadership, not in support of it. Middle management: One redeeming aspect is the middle management across the organization. Many of them genuinely care about their teams and strive to improve the situation. The leadership team are lucky to have them. They work tirelessly to bridge the gap left by the absent leadership and offer support to their subordinates. Unfortunately, their efforts are often hindered by the overall lack of direction and ineffective communication from higher-ups, and are often caught in the cross-fire of these decisions. Culture: The culture is one of complacency and avoidance. Many employees bury their heads in the sand, unwilling or unable to address the systemic issues within the company. This perpetuates a sense of stagnation and frustration among the many who genuinely want to see positive change. The lack of accountability and a proactive approach to problem-solving contribute to a toxic work culture.

We have achieved eight certifications out of ten countries, and we are dedicated to making Nordcloud an even greater place to work. Additionally, a pulse survey is planned for September to gather further feedback and gauge the progress we have made.
