People in high positions are being brought in with no hiring or selection process, just buddies bringing their buddies into it.
The only remnant of a hiring process is referrals; there are no filters, no recruiter interviews. If you're friends with one of the execs, you're in.
Optics are far more important than competence. You get a lot more recognition from talking about past achievements than you get from doing actual work.
