Very antiquated in their expectations, often hire/promote based on arbitrary standards rather than skill.

There is massive mistrust at every level of Step Up. At my site, no one trusted each other, there was so much gossiping and talking behind others' backs and a lack of accountability. Abusive behaviors from employees tolerated by management, with no support toward those being targeted, some of whom were students. The program does not seem to be serving the students, and the organization needs a revamp. It has so much potential, but most students I spoke with shared that they gained very little from participating in the program. There is a lack of transparency from management, and unclear rules/guidelines for employees to follow. Onboarding was unclear and unhelpful. It was not a safe working environment.
