Origin House Reviews

I worked at Origin House for over a year in California. Never met the CEO. He doesn’t interact with the the California business units. Absolutely nonexistent. This might be due to the fact that CannaRoyalty aka Origin House was a big stock play from the beginning. The CEO doesn’t care about the culture of the company or the hundreds of people he employees. Just boasting about it with his elite cronies in Canada. The company was recently sold right under everyone’s nose and they just axed a bunch of employees to close the acquisition....oh and don’t even get me started on the Canadian office (HQ), no shortage of power thirsty vultures who look at the cannabis industry and salivate over ways they can manipulate and step on people in order to get ahead. If you join this organization, watch your back!

This is the most sincere review you will read here. POOR LEADERSHIP/TURNOVER: Upper Management is a JOKE! No leadership and incompetent higher level! No respect between the Directors and Managers/Coordinators/Consultants. They are so incompetent that one of our offices contacted the President of the company to restructure. I’ve seen 8 employees quit in less than 6 month! ORGANIZATION: No organization! You can spend 40+ hours working on a project and upper management will tell you “We’re not pursuing this idea/project anymore”. No questions asked. No explanation. Here goes thousands of dollars and hours wasted. Now you would think that would happen only once but it happened multiple times. Complete waste! COMMUNICATION: Origin House has offices in Canada (Ottawa and Toronto) and California (Oakland, Irvine, Santa Monica and more). Although we have to work with other departments, there is absolutely zero communication between them. Many of them are late for meetings and have zero respect for each other. Lots of hypocrites! It is unfortunate because we all depend on each other. NO INCENTIVES: No incentives, no bonus, no promotions, no leaders, no 401k nothing! Just a bunch of C-level executives throwing tasks at you and traveling around Canada and The U.S. SALARY and BENEFITS: Salaries and benefits are average for California. The company was just purchased for $850 million yet we didn’t even receive a $5 gift card, a bonus, 401k, stocks options or even a free lunch! Really!? Pay your team; they work their butts off! Another thing, Can we have a clear structure for our salary? First we were paid via direct deposit, then we received checks from different banks and now direct deposit again… Everything about this is shady... C-LEVEL: This company was founded by a bunch of wealthy individuals who poured money in the cannabis industry thinking they will make tons of money. They hired incompetents Directors (Some of them were fired or quit) who had zero competences and structure for their departments . Most of us never met the CEO and the president is a young lawyer who clearly doesn't know how to handle the business. PS: We were asked once to write "nice" reviews on Glassdoor so do not believe some of these 5 stars reviews.
