Pros

The only 2 positive things are: Origins is part of Estée Lauder, which is well known beauty corporation, and two - the staff concession - you get products at a very discounted price. Luxurious office ( but don't worry you'll never get to work there....)

Cons

However, don't be fooled by the pros- there's a trap. Origins is the most miserable brand out of all in the Corporation. Hence training, coaching, career development, events are cheap and questionable. Brand management is poor, inadequate to the market and extremely biased towards their 'favourites' ( e.g. People with connections) Senior managers have happy life in a brand new polished office in central London with all extras, laptops , mobile phones given, American Express cards, cars etc , while you'll have to work as a donkey and being treated like 'second hand'. UNQUALIFIED, shockingly UNPROFESSIONAL and utterly UNEDUCATED people are managing you. Targets given and retail politics are unrealistic to the market and don't even go near competitors' efforts. Training is a farce! This are some of the main reasons for the brand retail catastrophe. Also, don't even hope to get promoted. Unless you know/befriend the 'right' people. The company has serious ongoing financial problems so stay away from it! Double standards run all the way from the bottom to the top. A total joke of a business! BEWARE: People leaving in great numbers for a reason!

Pros

Great training and fairly regular free products. Really nice to learn about skincare and makeup. Nice to build relationships with customers and area managers. Generally if you are in a nice store, then its quite a nice working environment getting to know the other staff on different counters.

Cons

Never ending sales targets that you have to keep trying to beat year on year. If you do really well one month, you just know that this time next year youre going to have to do even more to beat it. Once you get to Counter Manager, it is hard to see where the next step in your career progression would be. It seems as if there arent that many roles within store anymore - you could become a more senior counter manage for more than one store, or you could train other managers. But more than that it is difficult to know where the next step would be unless you became an area manager (which includes LOADS of travelling) or went into the training side of things at the Head Office (which also includes lots of travelling!)
