Pros

They have a flexible schedule.

Cons

Working at PATLive is like being in middle school again. They record all calls. You get graded on random calls. They have no “rule book” on how the calls are graded so the call graders can (and will) give you a 0% for the most ridiculous and petty things. You are graded on your tone of voice, grammar, spelling, form check, interaction quality. If you don’t answer the call “cheery” enough, automatic 0%. You are required to repeat EVERYTHING back to the caller, also have to spell back EVERYTHING to the caller. Trust me, just about every caller is irritated by the end of the call. You cannot have ANY “dead air” or you’re marked off. Some of the scripts are LONG and have very specific directions on exactly how they want you to type or talk. So you have about 15 seconds to read ALL that before you answer the call. If you don’t say “please” after every question you ask the caller you get 0%. If you don’t say “thank you” after every question, yep, 0%. If you don’t use the callers name enough during the call, 0%. And you have to use Mr./Ms. “Last name”… If you don’t ask EVERY question on the script, 0%… Also, 95% of the calls are real estate calls, and the callers are furious, we should not have to ask every question when the caller is clearly already mad. If your overall grade falls below a certain percentage (90ish%), you’re fired. I am 99.99% sure that most of the real estate companies are fraudulent and ripping people off (or trying to). It is terrible that PATLive even associates with these companies. It is truly mentally draining working here and getting screamed at ALL DAY. Trust me, $13 an hour is NOT worth it. I absolutely HATE taking real estate calls and getting verbally abused all day, every day. I was never asked if I was morally okay with assisting these real estate companies in scamming people. Because I absolutely am NOT. They are taking advantage of the elderly, and/or less informed. All of the VA’s are constantly complaining when they have to take VR calls because they hate being screamed at. VA’s make more $ than VR’s. After every call you have 30 seconds to finish filling out the form, check spelling and grammar. Most of the scripts have an internal AND external form that need to be filled out. They promise it’s so easy to get a promotion and moved up within the company. Not true. If you can, definitely work elsewhere!! I have become SO depressed because of this job… and major anxiety daily. My advice would be to RUN! This company does NOT care if you’re getting screamed at all day, everyday. They do NOT care if they are helping real estate investors RUIN people’s lives… I have worked customer service my entire life and the mental anguish I’ve experienced at PATLive is off the charts!

Pros

The free food and smoothies are nice. The pay is better than most places in town. It's nice to have a younger dynamic. They try (not very successfully) to do nice things for their employees.

Cons

The management in this company is lackluster at finest. There are too many levels of hierarchy, and within those tiers of management, no one is truly a manager of the person below them. A sense of leadership is only held by the executive team, and even then their inability to make up their minds leads to mixed messages being passed through the company. The leaders claims to be perfectionists, but in actuality are egotistical and micromanage their employees. There is a lot of talk about a new product that will revolutionize the industry, but the steps to make sure it's successful are not being taken. This new product has not even been explained to the answering center staff at a level that people who are not developers can understand, so there's a lot of confusion there. Too much money is spent on things that are not as important, that could be used for bonuses or increasing incentives. Gossip is a huge issue among management, as is big-headedness.

Pros

I have to say that when I started working for the company in Jan, 2023, I read reviews and was excited to work with a "family oriented" company. The training is thorough, and you meet a lot of people from all over the US. During this time, we were told that moving up within the company was quick, and easy as long as your call grades reflected your quality of work. I like the fact that the company provides all necessary equipment and there is always a team of people ready to aid and troubleshoot if you have technical issues. The team leader I was assigned was very supportive. Honestly, most of the receptionists were friendly and I made a lifelong friend so I have that to thank PATLive for!

Cons

Cons I'm being completely honest when I say, the "call grading" is ridiculous. There is no designated way that the call graders follow when listening to our calls. I got call graded on the EXACT same call twice and one grader gave me 100%, and positive comments about my tone. Another grader who is negative 90% of the time gave me a 50% and mentioned things that weren't incorrect. I notified my team leader, and he changed the grade up to 100%. He openly admitted the grader was nit picking and was incorrect. Other times I was marked failing and flagged for "grammar" yet, the grader themselves were grammatically incorrect and I called them out on it. It's pathetic that it's a constant issue and I got to the point where I would just accept all the grades whether they were pass or fail. What's the point when there's no conformity, or procedures and everyone picks and chooses what they grade you on and what they consider the "correct/proper" way of doing things? And I get that businesses need the information we obtain to be verified, but repeating and spelling everything back to the callers upsets them sometimes. If you are in a hurry and trying to get off the phone, wouldn't you be frustrated to have someone repeat and spell back your first name, last name, phone number, address, email, etc.? The pay is not enough for the mental and emotional impact you experience. I have had calls where elderly people were signing away their property to land investors at 5% of its value and I wanted to tell them so badly that the company was pretty much stealing from them. You get yelled at, cursed at, insulted, and just have to keep taking it in strides. There is no moving up in the company. I was recommended for the position as a Virtual Assistant 3 times by my team leader, but nothing came of it. The VA's constantly complain about having to answer real estate calls when staff is low and VR's are not available because they feel they are above that position and don't want to get yelled, and cursed at. News Flash. No One wants to experience that. The first few months of employment, it was easy to trade shifts with others, but the last two months it has been impossible. Literally EVERYONE has been trying to drop their shifts and no one wants to pick up because they are unsatisfied with the work and pay. Overall, my time with the company was not very pleasant and they only really do "spot lights" and openly complement the same people repeatedly. A lot of the shady business with the real estate investors is questionable and some of the health insurance companies are fraudulent and scamming people out of money. I did not feel right with myself continuing my employment with the company. As a few others on here have said before "you've been warned".
