I joined PCML with enthusiasm, but unfortunately my experience was quite short and not what I expected. During my time there, I was never fully involved in the company’s objectives or strategy, and at times it felt like there were unrealistic expectations, particularly around lead generation and identifying new clients without clear tools or direction.
The most unexpected moment was being called into a meeting with HR and my line manager where I was informed, without prior warning, that a two-week consultation period was starting due to business restructuring and that my role was no longer required. I had only been in the role a few months and never really had the chance to demonstrate my full potential.
I tried to seek union support, but given my short tenure, this was limited. I even suggested being redeployed within the company, but this was not considered. After two weeks, my contract was terminated, leaving me with no job despite originally being hired on a permanent basis.
Overall, it felt like a case of poor planning, lack of transparency, and limited regard for employee well-being. While I’m grateful I quickly found a new opportunity elsewhere, my experience at PCML was disappointing and left me questioning the company’s communication and values.
