    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Palfish part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Used to be OK if part time. Flexible

    Cons

Not enough hours. Poor communication. The pandemic has ruined online teaching. Not enough to go around. Have you market your self, waste your time making videos of classes and get nothing.

    "Not worth it"

I worked at Palfish full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great kids Fellow teachers were lovely and supportive.

    Cons

Palfish is not worth it. Everyone starts off with 'trials' where you aim to 'sell a package' to parents(student signs up to a full course with you or another teacher). In the first week, you get given trials by the sales team(who are the people who pitch sales to a parents). I got on average 2 a day(2x25 minute classes) in my first week which wasn't bad for a starter. But in my second week, I stopped getting trials. Palfish teachers are advised to market themselves to potential students, by posting 'moments'(like facebook), doing live streams of anything they want, and being active in their sister app, the Palfish reading app. Being very ambitious and determined to do well, from day 1 I posted several moments a day, did a live every other day, and used the reading app reguarly. I was also told, in a 'new teachers' group on the app(that worked like a message board), that things would pick up after a few weeks. They did not. I finished my first month having done just 40 classes, and my second month was not better. 40 classes worked out as around £483. Yes, that's right. £483 for a MONTH. I quit Palfish midway through my second month, found work elsewhere, and earned that amount of money in a week and a half. Palfish is not worth it unless you want to stick around for something that will probably never happen.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Palfish full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Amazing students, easy to use platform, easy to earn money and get paid, flexible hours to a point, awesome and helpful teachers

    Cons

The staff are the most unhelpful and uncompassionate people. It’s all fine until you encounter an issue, which can be often. High penalties. No more money bonuses. No support or guidance from staff. If you need to take time off, just don’t bother going back! A long time to build up students. Reading app is difficult to navigate. Questions don’t get answered. You will also notice not many teachers have been on PalFish for more than a year or 2.
