Pros

The hands-on experience gained here is unparalleled, providing a solid foundation for anyone looking to advance their career in events management. The Events & Marketing team collaborative spirit makes every project a pleasure to work on and fosters a supportive and inspiring work environment where everyone's contributions are heard. Highlights would be working onsite at events alongside the team. The teamwork during these moments made for an enjoyable experience. Which makes you overlook the bad. Every moment is an opportunity to learn and grow. Extremely fast paced which can take a mental toll

Cons

Micromanagement across all departments. Typically framed as helpful guidance, can sometimes stifle autonomy. Clear communication from manager is also lacking, often requiring employees to decipher vague or implied expectations & instruction. Which sometimes leads to frustration and having to ask to have a better understanding. Interactions with certain managers have been characterized by awkward abrasiveness and a lack of self-awareness. This can create a challenging working environment and ultimately diminishes morale or even worse makes an employee not feel valued. What's good for the goose is good for the gander with lack of accountability and instances where it seems like favoritism rather than equal treatment. Apologies from a manager is never given even when they sometimes miss the mark. The hard work that is put in for months prior to an event is met with lack of understanding of "a break" after an event is over. The expectation to still work the day of when an event is over is extreme. The upside is that you are allowed 1 comp day for every 3workdays and you are compensated for working on the weekend which typically are 14-16hr days. While turnover is a natural part of any organization, the frequency is alarming especially with a small company and raises questions about internal dynamics and employee satisfaction levels. Paying attention to the details reveals patterns that may shed light on why employees choose to leave.
