Pros

The people who work there are incredible nice, socially conscious, and care about the library and the library patrons. The programs function to help people in the community, like practicing English for ESL students, and computer classes for beginners. Overall, not too much stress on the job and the things you contribute to the general well-being of the community.

Cons

No benefits, sporadic work hours for part-timers (depends on your department), the library has recently cut staff and expects remaining staff to do more outreach and programs. "Budget cuts" - the worst phrase you'll ever hear working at the library.

Pros

Good work environment, interesting coworkers, fulfilling job, flexible schedule, beautiful buildings,

Cons

Huge divide between admin and everyone else, without a masters there is no room for advancement, most employees are part-time, 20-28 hours a week this keeps people at/ below poverty line and makes finding another flexible job difficult. No benefits for Part-Time Staff and limited diversity in upper management
