They used to be a solid place, but haven’t been for a long time. Horribly toxic corporate culture, upper management actively rules down with blatant favouritism - to a point where any sane company would have a filing case filled to the brim with HR complaints. Favourites are protected and actively told they are the favourites, everyone else is given hostility and unjust treatment (ex. Not chosen for positions they should be in, withholding bonuses or increases despite their skillsets and history, mgmt told to cut hours or make their work environment worse, etc). When we had real HR issues, they were handled so poorly that nothing would happen or would be outright ignored. Head office does not care about quality and actively shafts cafes over labour, actively encourages teams to ignore quality + consistency measures to meet their quotas. Not sure why their labour is the biggest issue for them, even though they actively work their managers to the bone by forcing them to run multiple locations. Yet when managers need help or need things to run smoothly, they're treated with hostility. Don't even get me started on the finance team, you'd think a company with four accountants would be able to properly pay milk, laundry, internet, and electricity bills on time. The reason there's been so much turnover is because everything is hanging on by a thread, yet the CEO chooses to divide resources further by buying a Second Cup knock off at a fraction of the price Second Cup itself paid for it. If you care about what you do or your work environment, don’t bother with Pilot - it's not worth your time.
