Pros

nice offices, free fruit, competitive salary

Cons

From a firm culture perspective, and from the perspective of an administrative team member (i.e. not an attorney) specifically, the price of working at Polsinelli is too great. Disrespect toward staff was daily. Verbal insults were common. I personally experienced cruelty and ugliness. I personally witnessed poor treatment of other administrative team members. One attorney called a member of my team ignorant and unqualified to do the simplest of things (she was a dual-degreed professional with an incredible work ethic). Attorneys in leadership spoke poorly of other attorneys, some of whom were on their own teams. During a period of 5+ years, I witnessed smart, capable, thoughtful, genuine, and ethical people pick up their boxes of private items from their desks and leave. I saw, and after I left, learned about, women in leadership being shown the door. Not because they weren't good at their jobs, but because they weren't listened to or respected for their expertise. Conflict is nearly impossible to resolve and HR is not a safe place. Can’t stress that enough. Executive leadership treats team members in administrative roles as expendable.

Pros

Beautiful office and great location.

Cons

Pay is on the low side for a Chicago firm. No bonuses. Office manager is lacking in skills. Large employee turnover by both attorneys and staff. The CEO does not acknowledge anyone that is not an attorney. He will walk right by you as if you are not sitting there.

Pros

The firm has very nice facilities and their benefits are in line with other firms.

Cons

The administrative side of management is extremely toxic and they do not work as a team. It's everyone for themselves, regardless of the fallout. Staff is expected to continuously take on more as attorney growth soars but they are not given the bodies to handle the additional work created by the every increasing attorney count. It's a sweat shop. Plain and simple.
