Pros

Great place to learn SQL and data management Good pay

Cons

High turnover Long hours Results are "spun" to show improvement where none exists Lack of "real world" experience of most of the staff Rely too heavily on customers who don't understand what we actually do

Pros

- If you don't already know SQL, you will learn it here. Of course you could also pick most of this up by taking an online course or reading a book over a week. - Most of the people that are not management are intelligent and friendly, but don't expect to be socializing with them during the day outside of IMs and hurried lunches. - Once you are fired/quit, you can join the Anti-Precision FB group, and read outrageous stories from other former employees... think of it as a support group. - If you start at one of the lower positions they will be fairly quick to promote you if you do well. However, you will be paid the same amount aside from a paltry bump. In other words, more work/responsibility, more stress, more hours - same pay. If you don't accept the promotion, they will find a way to boot you. - Precision does an excellent job of putting up a facade that their employees are important and even family, which is true in the sense that a cult is a family. - There is a good chance that you'll work in a cube with a big window... that looks directly over a dirty ally.

Cons

Wow... where to start. I will try to be constructive. - Turnover is extremely high... like maybe 70-80% within a year. I you have a chance to see the President's bookshelf take note of the annual company Christmas photos, and the fact that the majority of the people in the photos are different from year to year. - The best way to succeed at Precision is to be a 65+ hr/wk drone, a dedicated sycophant, or have intimate relations with the President. - The management style is indicative of someone who read an organizational behaviour text book, then either over-applied the techniques or applied the techniques way too literally. Ultimately it comes off as being coercive and manipulative to anyone with decent IQ. - You will be berated, condescended to, undermined, and have your character systematically assassinated both publicly and behind closed doors. Your e-mails, IMs, time spent at lunch or even in the bathroom will be monitored. You will be subject to illogical temper tantrums and odd team-building rituals/training. - The "model outputs" you will be providing to clients are often flawed, and the statistics screwed in favor of producing a result.

Pros

I learned some valuable skills that I could take to another job.

Cons

A constantly revolving cadre of new young analysts who don't stay long because the environment is toxic. Crazy accusations, suspicions, general mistrust from the upper management are the status quo.. This is not the way a company that is smaller than 20 people or really any company ever should operate. If you are considering working here, I beg you to inquire about turnover. Prepare yourself for a year of insanity and head games, and then be prepared to get fired. Some variation of this script has been repeated dozens and dozens of times since the company's inception. GL!
