admin is very supportive. you are expected to be an excellent tutor and admin doesn't expect anything less, but they are willing to support you in any way they can

you express interest in a particular tutoring opportunity. you may or may not get the opportunity based on how many tutors also express interest in the opportunity (but also a bunch of other factors, like fit, schedule...) so you can sometimes go long periods without being able to work with students
