Sinking Ship

Pros

The only pros are your team mates. They try to help you as much as they can, they are in the same sinking ship as you are.

Cons

- Pay is bellow market rate! - Senior management is useless, disregards what employees want. They do surveys to improve so they see the issues but nothing ever changes. - There is a clear lack of leadership, decision making and talent. - There is no documentation, this leads to nobody understanding anything, so simple issues are taking forever to fix. - Also due to lack of documentation, automation and standards every virtual machine that is ever built is different. Nightmare to troubleshoot and manage. - HR is out of touch, they think pizza is the answer to everything. For a "people first" company they put people last. Also HR seems to have way too much power. Pulsant is NOT a forward facing company. There is no intention to implement any kind of automation or standardisation.

Pros

None thats worth a mention unless you want to consider a can of juice or a banana.

Cons

The biggest challenge is working in a toxic environment where management and HR allow and then cover up bullying, discrimination, abuse and victimisation on regular basis. People who don't buy into the fake culture and company surveys are dismissed at the blink of an eye. The company operates with bare minimum staff and facilities are beyond neglected. Money is spent on fancy offices meanwhile datacentres are neglected, critical infrastructure goes unrepaired and ignored for months on end until it causes an outage. Profit and painting a fake company image is more important than the welfare of staff who are often underpaid and over worked. Most definitely not valued nor respected.

Pros

- Great colleagues in support, always willing to lend a hand and offer advice - Will be exposed to a wide range of systems/tech

Cons

- For a company that prides itself on "People First", Senior management have no problem disregarding what staff actually want. - Pay is nowhere close to the industry standard, as mentioned 24/7 team is paid the same as day shift despite working higher priority incidents and requiring a more advanced skillset - Mandatory office attendance despite support staff being more than capable of doing the job from home, even after offering to gather staff opinions on this I was told in writing that "the opinions of a few staff will not change their mind" - New systems (such as ticketing) are poorly tested and documented before going live, causing massive workloads and headaches for staff that have to deal with them. - Key staff have still not been replaced several months after they have left - Very little opportunities for progression, you are best off learning what you can here and then taking that elsewhere.
