Pros

Opportunity to be a part of a firm that has an "image" of being national. Other than the big firm image, it's hollow once you peer inside

Cons

All image, no substance. No focus on anything except the bottom line. Don't bother getting to know anyone because the turnover is rampant. This firm is perpetually running an ad to hire people for a reason. Do yourself a favor and transition to a place that has coherent focus. Everyone and their mother is a "partner." .... and nobody knows what's going on.

Pros

Not too many. The support staff in the Chicago office is comprised of very nice people. They are all underappreciated and treated terribly by most partners, though. However, I hear that the Florida offices are great places to work.

Cons

Everything under the sun. To name a few, they are extremely cheap, it is a billable hour sweatshop, absolutely no room for growth, no cross-pollination, you'll be pigeon-holed in a practice group. The "LARGEST" minority-owned law firm with very, very few minority associates (if any). The place is a revolving door. You aren't compensated for your hard work. No matter how many hours you bill, you raise will be 3% of your annual salary, and your holiday bonus is 1-weeks pay. From what I understand, most first year associates make $50,000/ year, 12k less than most DA offices.
