Pros

I have worked within the travel industry for over 13 years and I have never come across a company where weekend working is not expected and where the office is closed over the Christmas period giving all staff the time off to spend with their families so this is something I have found extremely positive. The office is in a great setting and the directors have worked hard to make sure that the facilities are all top notch with multiple fridges, kitchen space, microwaves for making lunches, air con (again not something in every past workplace I have had) comfortable seating for lunch breaks and meeting spaces and free tea, coffee and milk, and showers for those who cycle to work. There is a culture of caring and sharing with lots of opportunities to get involved in raising money for charity and there is always someone who has brought in food of some sort to share so be prepared to put on a few lbs! The flexibility of working hours is fantastic - again not something I have had in previous work places, so having the ability to choose a working band which will suit your week is great. The directors and managers are also happy to be flexible with working around medical appointments and making the time up (so longer lunches if needed or coming in later/leaving earlier.) They have even amended working hours to suit train times for those staff who get the train to work and don't drive - again something I haven't come across before! The directors are approachable and open to all ideas to continually improve the working environment. They have a door open policy and encourage staff from interns up to senior managers to approach them with any queries or concerns they have as well as any suggestions for improvements. I have personally found them very open to suggestions and recent changes have included the addition of senior positions within the company for internal development, performance awards for operational and sales staff and some great incentives and prizes. Even when staff have needed to come in early to help on certain special flight release days breakfast has been provided by the company - again not something I have experienced in other work places. As the company has grown I have seen lots of staff progress internally to different positions within the company and within their own departments and the ability to recognise great talent and ambition (of which there is a lot at Rayburn) is something the directors are very adept at.

Cons

Due to the growth of the company it can sometimes be difficult to find a parking space as there is limited space available for each business on Pride Park. Sometimes it can be too cold with the aircon on but that is personal preference as I am always very cold (and just make sure I bring a cardigan with me).

Pros

- Great facilities. The building is less than 10 years old, and is clean and bright. The building offers aircon, toilets, showers, drink making facilities (hot water boiler, tea, coffee, milk) and a kitchen with microwaves, toaster, fridges. There are also bicycle racks. - Flexibility. There is a flexi banding system for working hours, which is great and there is flexibility for time out for appointments or tweaks to make public transport work. - Progression. The company likes to promote from within and recognises talent, in some cases, creating positions to suit an individual. The managers and Directors help to nurture staff development and there is regular contact via the appraisal system. I have personally gone through many changes in my role and progressed/grown with the company over the years. - Amazing people. The recruitment process is very focused on getting the right skill set but also the fit within teams. The staff here are very personable and fun as well as being hardworking. With a shared passion in languages and travel, it's never dull! There are often fun social/charity events in and out of the office, with chance to socialise and interact with other departments. - Engaged Directors. The Directors are massively invested in making the company the best it can be and they are always open to suggestions for improvement. They always say they have an open door policy, and they actually mean it! - Ethics. The company have a good moral compass and decisions concerning the client base and problems are always thought of with the bigger picture in mind...what is the right thing to do and what will bring client retention.

Cons

- Parking is sometimes tricky due to the company growing - The office air-con debate arises annually

Pros

I have been at Rayburn Tours for a little over 4 years now and without a doubt I love my job. A huge part of this is down to the people I work with and for, as well as the lovely working environment that we are provided with. We all work hard at Rayburn Tours, but it is not all work and no play for staff. Within individual teams and across the company as a whole we have socials, Friday treats, mid-week quizzes, lunches, team awards, celebrations and charity events. The office is always clean, tidy and a pleasant place to work in. When it comes to facilities we have everything we need to do our jobs as well as kitchen space with fridges, microwaves and toaster. All the tea, coffee, sugar and milk is provided by the company as well. The flexible bands for working hours is a great benefit too. It allows us all to work hours that suit our lifestyle and commitments each week. For people that have particular circumstances further flexibility has been organised and again there is flexibility for when staff have appointments etc. Having an hour for lunch is a definite plus too! Customer satisfaction is key at Rayburn Tours and we all strive to give all our clients 5 star service every single time - an ethos that comes from the top. Our customer feedback reflects this and we are all proud of our customer service ratings which continue to be high across all departments. We have grown as a company quite considerably over the last few years which has been great to see and it has allowed people within the company to progress internally. Personally, I have been very lucky to have been promoted within the company and have had some fantastic support from colleagues, managers and directors as my career at Rayburn Tours has developed. The directors’ open-door policy is great and they are always willing to listen, advise and offer support or a pep talk as needed for any member of staff. They are also receptive to feedback and open to suggestions for improvement. It is obvious that they care about their staff, customers and the business.

Cons

Due to the growth that we have seen in recent years the car park is getting very busy, but this means we are all getting better at parking to make the most of the space allotted to the company. Occasionally communication can be lacking across departments as we have been growing, but this has been improving with all departments and central functions making the effort to share information with each other.
