Pros

A friendly environment with a lot of social events and good engagement from employees. Nice open office, with by and large a good community feel. On the face of it the culture is strong. Pay is generally fair(ish) and in cash (rare for the industry). Supposedly a flat hierarchy.

Cons

Rife with politics and lots of disgruntled people. The partnership structure is incredibly opaque and effectively used to line the pockets of people who have been in place for a long time. A meritocracy this is not. This means that people who seem to be doing the same job/level of output can be paid fractions of "senior" people. Is basically run by sales and traders with a heavy focus on KPIs/ meeting metrics which don't necessarily have anything to do with quality of output. Has become very political so if you say the right things and shout the loudest you will probably reap the rewards. A lot of younger talent (30 somethings) has left in the last 2 years. Management are struggling with a top heavy structure and havent worked out that people are using the company as a stepping stone now...it should be a serious concern that such a large number of talented younger members of the business have moved on (although not to the competition).

Pros

Your average Joe has never heard of Redburn, but that doesn't matter. What does matter is that every buy side firm has, and pretty much all the top names have them on their broker list. Research is top quality, and gives bulge brackets a run for their money. Clients really respect the analysts, the veteran sales force, and the quality execution offering which is solid on both high touch and more recently low touch fronts.

Cons

Not the most energetic office, but still decent banter. Research areas are particularly heads down, not that people aren't approachable, they're just all working hard.

Pros

Good place to retire and see out time after more hectic, well remunerated roles elsewhere

Cons

Senior management really don’t have a clue how to stop the rot, loss-making and brain drain. Clear out across the board at senior management required to save this company.
