Pros

-mission driven -clothes -cool brand

Cons

-Unless you are an OG ref employee or are fake and become friends with management, you will never succeed here. Very insular all white mean girls club at the top -Make clothes for skinny petite women and still have not learned any lessons on diversity (no big sizes in stores bc they don’t make enough money on them, no marketing to other demographics because they don’t perceive them as profitable) -Management lies to employees in decision making to protect themselves

Disappointing

Pros

The discount is OK. You can get 50% off everything and 60% off uniform allowance, limited to a set amount of items in your store.

Cons

The communication was very bad in store. especially with the assistant manager. I experienced language that was incredibly negative, rude and unprofessional. This created a really toxic and uncomfortable environment and ultimately ruined the morale of the team. 0 value for staff work, one example was Myself and colleagues would work really hard to make the shop VM look presentable and the assistant manager would tell you it looks great, then move it around an hour later. The morning briefings would be targeted to working as a ‘team’ but then management would be BOH all day sitting eating snacks. complaining about not achieving targets, bad conversion, how they could ‘no longer make excuses’ for our bad performance all the while not actively leading and then threatening to cut hours. Gossiping/bullying. I was advised there was a rule book stating that supervisors and managers could only have 1 weekend off per month, however the manager would be off several weekends in a month or have the day off every other weekend. I never saw this rule book after asking several times. The hours on the shop floor are very long and strenuous, coming in an hour, sometimes two before open and staying an hour after close. Minimal benefits for UK staff. The contract and any other official documents were targeted towards US. Little to no freebies. There are more issues to list but overall there is no room for creativity, there is no read leadership, everyone is micromanaged and overworked. I would only recommend this job if you are looking for part time work as the pay is decent.
