It was never a real business

Pros

Not many. I got out while there was severance cash to go around. The most loyal dogs got the bullet the hardest.

Cons

I worked for RENORUN and have mixed feelings about my experience. On the one hand, the company had a promising idea that could have been disruptive in the industry. The people I worked with were friendly and easy to collaborate with. The pay was decent, especially for a Canadian startup, and the work/life balance was good. On the other hand, the management team was a disaster. The founders had no idea how to build or run a tech organization, and upper management was completely inept. There was a severe lack of direction and leadership, and decision-making was poor. The company touted transparency but was actually opaque and borderline dishonest. It was a mix of terrible planning, decision making, and management that ultimately led to the company's demise. In my opinion, management was overpaid and seemed to be more focused on their personal fortunes than on the company's success. RENORUN was nothing more than a get-rich-quick scheme that caught a lot of people in its crosshairs. While the idea was exciting, it was ultimately a bunch of hot air, and the death of 0% interest was the final nail in the coffin. My advice to management is to learn from their mistakes and take responsibility for the failure of the company. I hope they can reflect on their decisions and actions and improve their leadership skills in the future. In the end, RENORUN was a missed opportunity that could have been successful with the right management team in place.

Pros

The idea was exciting but ultimately was a bunch of hot air in terms of being a disruptive or viable business. Friendly, good people to work with. Pay was pretty good for Canadian startup. Good work/life balance (mainly because no one had any idea was going on, kept anyone accountable and let everyone take excessive vacation)

Cons

Founders had no Idea how to build/run a tech organization. Upper management completely fumbled the bag. No sense of direction or leadership. Touted transparency but absolutely opaque and borderline lying in reality. A mix of terrible planning, decision making, management and the death of 0% interest ultimately sunk the company.
