I have been working at Resource Solutions Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The Company has over 300 staff and there are only 6 reviews currently on Glassdoor. This is a testament to the low churn of the Business and the generally positive terms on which people leave the Business. Churn here is exceptionally low for a recruitment Business. The Company is fast growing and has won multiple awards to that effect. This is not a KPI / Target driven Business, instead the focus is on long... term sustainability and growth. More emphasis on building working relationships, understanding candidates, working closely with clients. This is not a cold calling environment. On any given day there might be 20 people on the phone at any one time, often speak with candidates. An unusual culture in the World of recruitment. A bit of a twist if you have come from a cold hard wolf of wall street environment. The Company likes to grow it's own, preferring to bring people in fresh and train them internally. This helps ensure they don't have that ruthless attitude typical in the industry. They have a number of large agreements in place with multi-national Businesses ensuring they have a constant stream of incoming roles to handle. Good people and good atmosphere. A stark contrast to my own background which was particularly ruthless, it took me a while to adjust to this more friendly and welcoming environment. Feel free to have a look on linkedin and you will see people with the Company for multiple years which is highly unusual in recruitment.

    Cons

The trade off for a good work life balance / no targets and a friendly environment is a relatively low basic by contrast to other Businesses. This is reflective of the fact that there is less of a tiered structure. There are relatively few people earning six figure salaries and instead a larger number of people on good wages working in a role they enjoy. I see this as a positive as it's a step away from the pyramid... schemes you tend to see in other recruitment Businesses. The Company structure is not immediately obvious as you don't feel disconnected from senior management in the same way as most Businesses. It is a Company full of consultants, all being treated as adults, all being trusted to handle their own Business. Your experience will vary depending on the department you work in but you can move around quite freely in the Company to a position that suits you. The Low base is offset by a good level of commission as there are always roles for you to handle or you will have a number of contractors in the field so your earnings can become quite substantial. The only road bump you might find is the recruitment industry itself which is not for everyone. Generally creative / artistic types struggle to adapt to an office environment and the routine that brings. They don't dislike the job but they're not won over by it either. People with that disposition have generally chosen to go traveling or pursue their hobbies and that is in generally the main reason we tend to see people leave. It is always on good terms and on occasion they may return to the Business at a later date.

    Pros

always busy as good house accounts and really excellent initial training. encourage you to get out of the office and bring on work which is great. If you ever need help there are so many people always happy to help. not the classic recruitment culture but still a lot of fun and rewarded occasionally for good performance. Incentivised with generous commission structure for new business. Looks like they are starting... to get with the times and changing a few old systems which should improve some of the cons below. Very generous with charity donations and match anything you raise.

    Cons

Building is old and IT is absolute rubbish. takes 10 minutes for computer to turn on in the morning. Commission could be better in terms of seeing what you are actually earning, you are at the mercy of the owner of the company and get no proof or breakdown of what you have made that month. however i belive this will be changing soon. Toilets are awful and general facilities. no breakout area at all. The cons could... all be changed easily so hopefully it changes soon. poor holiday allowance and dont get over christmas period off so have to use a lot of it for that. Sometimes they concerntrate on things which are not important like games and activities which is great but when the office is bare and not very good. it does annoy me. no working from home at all

    Advice to Management

If you want to retain the junior consultants there you need to get into the 21st century. the old guard there are good at what they do but not at listening to advice on changes that should and could be made.

    Pros

There is very much a community feel to working with RSG which isn't often found in the workplace, especially within recruitment agency world. You're made welcome from Day1 by everyone and each person is happy to help with any questions you have whether you're new or have been there a good while.

    Cons

Not relevant as haven't come across any yet!

I worked at Resource Solutions Group part-time

    Pros

None......An RPO who is a glorified agency

    Cons

Where do I start.... Their recruitment policy is warped to say the least and you are never given back proper feedback but everything is a smoke screen if your face doesn't fit. Currently clinging on to an Account in Edinburgh where the feedback is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Revamp your internal recruitment as you have not go the right person who is interested in a diverse workforce.

I worked at Resource Solutions Group full-time

    Pros

Good team atmosphere (albeit cliquey) Good, approachable mid-management

    Cons

Senior management are seriously incompetent (almost no experience of working in different companies / industries at board level) Boy club at the top. Management create barriers to stop progression and perceived threats to their jobs. 'Old school' recruitment attitudes, sexism is rife throughout

    Advice to Management

Hire a new CEO Don't be afraid of change Look for senior managers with some breadth of company / industry experience (broader perspectives breed innovation)
