Frustrating Micromanagement, Lack of Transparency, and Outdated Tools Create Challenges
Pros
There is the claim to be a hybrid work environment. That is true, unless German leadership is in town, which is at least once a month, or if any German member is in the office, cause they'll be sure to send notes back to HQ on who is an isn't in office.
Cons
Where do I begin. One of the major challenges is the European-based top-down management approach, which is restrictive for those in the U.S.. This micromanagement approach doesn’t leave room for local market needs, making it difficult to innovate or adapt sales strategies. When the CEO comes to town, everyone in the office walks on eggshells, worried to say the wrong thing or look in the wrong direction with the fear of being fired because he just decides he doesn't like you. It had to be brought to his attention that he stresses out the sales team when he sits at a desk next to them, so he was asked to sit down near the IT team. Have a family? Don't plan on seeing them while the owner is in town as you'll be looked down upon if you leave the office before 6pm, even if you got to the office 2 hours before he even showed up. Even senior sales leadership based in the US. You have one side who doesn't know how to be a leader. I've seen at least 10 different sales people come into the organization and either be fired or leave because there isn't true leadership. You also have the other side of the sales business where the team lead is all about himself. He's shady, only does what works for himself, and will bad talk anyone he can to make himself look better.
