Pros

You will meet talented individuals here. The outward design and branding quality is top notch.

Cons

While RDG venues market a luxury guest experience, the employee experience doesn’t align with that vision. RDG is famous for abnormally high turnover across the board, so much that employees refer to it as “Revolving-Door Group” and all leaders could do is continue to wonder why people leave while perpetuating a toxic culture of blame, inequity, and favoritism. As a HR professional, you are battling the embarrassing, toxic reputation of the company while scrambling to sell a narrative that no longer holds. - The majority of staff get written up in their first week(s) to create a barrier to upward mobility and justify quick firing. - Explain why not a single person of color has been promoted to a venue leadership role such as General Manager or Exec Chef despite a plethora of viable internal candidates. - Employees walk on eggshells terrified of trusting each other. - Autonomy or new ideas are labeled “combative” and punished. - Archaic micromanagement style where employees are told in team meetings that they’re expected to work on their PTO, their day off and be attentive to work calls and emails 24/7 or risk losing their job. - 6 month+ black out period is imposed on the HR team where you cannot request or use your company paid vacation days for over half the year.

Thank you for your feedback. We respectfully but firmly disagree with several of the characterizations made here, and we feel it's important to offer clarity for anyone reading this. RDG is an organization that takes documentation and performance management seriously — and responsibly. No team member is written up unless there is a clear, documented, and justified reason rooted in our policies, whether that involves attendance, performance, or conduct. To suggest otherwise is simply not accurate. Regarding diversity and promotion — RDG is genuinely proud of the diverse talent within our organization and we promote entirely based on merit, demonstrated performance, and readiness for the next level. Career growth is available to every team member, and we are committed to continuing to develop pathways for advancement across all backgrounds. On the topic of turnover — the hospitality industry in Miami operates in one of the most competitive labor markets in the country, with industry-wide turnover rates approaching 80%. This is not unique to RDG. What is unique to RDG is our continued investment in our people, our culture, and our growth — reflected in our Great Place to Work recognition two years in a row. We also want to be clear: no employee at RDG — including our executives — is expected to work around the clock without regard for their wellbeing. We do operate in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, and roles that carry greater responsibility naturally require greater attentiveness. That is the nature of leadership in hospitality. We hear the feedback on open dialogue and want to be unequivocal — our doors are open. We actively welcome candid conversation and encourage anyone with concerns to reach out directly to our HR and People leadership team. We encourage you to contact us directly so that we can clarify your concerns. We wish you well in your next chapter.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and we're glad our compensation stood out as a strength — offering above-market pay is something we're committed to across all of our venues. We do want to address the tip pool concern directly, as we understand it's an important topic. RDG's tip structures are carefully designed to be compliant, transparent, and equitable. It's worth clarifying that traditional managers do not participate in the tip pool. However, certain guest-facing roles — who are actively and directly involved in the guest experience — do participate, as is both legal and common practice in high-end hospitality operations. We believe our team deserves clarity on how these structures work, and if that wasn't communicated as well as it should have been, that's something we take seriously and will continue to improve. As for the feedback on management style, we hold our leadership to the same high standards we hold our entire team — and respect is non-negotiable at RDG. We encourage you to reach out to us directly so we can better understand your specific experience. It is very important that hear from you directly. Thank you for the time you invested with us, and we wish you well.
