Pros

Projects are often iconic and largescale - good for intrinsic motivation, although they can be laden in politics and poor budgeting i.e. may be run LEAN some good people, so it is asy to form good teams and is sociable

Cons

No career plans for staff, often the management fly in Australians rather than build for the future through organic growth. Payscales are morally questionable for on the floor fee-earning staff compared with directors and australians sometimes a 90s (racist/mysoginistic) boys club feel, which does nothing for staff moral on the floor. possibly not familiar with UK employment laws

Pros

Very good projects - high rise buildings and the like. Looks cool. Easy to take responsibilities in part because more senior people avoid doing so. Very good young engineers at the Graduate Level. If you are joining as a graduate it is ok because of the exposure to large projects.

Cons

Rubbish Culture. Favouritism, open sexism and racism. Promoted wrong people to the top who give bad examples. New top management has changed from competent and reasonable people to ignorant jerks that are destroying the reputation of the company with bad project delivery and rude and impolite behaviour. Some competent people resist but I don't know for how long. Good people are leaving as result and company turnover is a recruiter's dream. SAD!

Pros

As a young engineer you are exposed to large exciting projects and learn a great deal. You get to work with lot of really intelligent people who are genuinely passionate about engineering Company is a good size to progress relatively quickly if you fit their mold Good exposure to training opportunities

Cons

Senior management/ board is the least diverse group of people possible and it shows in their decision making. Very out of touch with their people, and seemed to be a lot of conflict between themselves. I noticed there was people with a lot of potential in operation roles who were unable to do anything positive for the business because the people managing them could not appreciate different perspectives and would not like to be challenged. Very confused about the 'leadership' structure which seemed to change almost weekly, seemed to be trying to create positions for people who were maybe redundant.

Thank you for your feedback. We are proud of our passionate employees, engineers and beyond, and believe that we provide opportunities for employees to develop and fulfil career aspirations. We recognise that our industry, RBG included, are not where we want to be in terms of diversity but this has by no means gone unrecognised or ignored. We have set up a strong EDI committee who are dedicated to moving us forward with inclusive initiatives that are fully supported by our leadership team. In the last 6 months we have worked with an EDI consultant to set us on a path of improvement, and have made diversity and inclusion the key motivator for our 2019/20 People Pillar strategy. We have also injected our commitment to EDI into our work with schools and universities. We believe our performance review structure, leadership training, and HR team are effective in equipping our team leaders with the tools necessary to identify the potential in our employees and assisting them in their development. We are constantly reviewing our offer to employees to ensure our commitment to their development is clear, as such recent discussions have inspired great initiatives on topics such as mentorships and training pathways. We are open and accepting of any feedback given to our leadership team and believe this is evident to employees, and as such take your views onboard. We understand that difficult decisions must be made and believe we work within a culture that encourages discussion, and where fair feedback can be exchanged to make positive decisions that are beneficial to RBG and in line with our shared values.
