Pros

Despite the toxic leadership, the team itself is made up of genuinely supportive and talented people. Most of them stay for each other, not for the management.

Cons

The boss, Ben Finegan, will not value whatever good you do for the company. All he cares about is money. Ben has a passive-aggressive behavior. He rarely gives direct feedback but will find subtle ways to undermine your work. He might praise you in front of others, only to criticize you behind closed doors. Don’t expect clear communication or consistent expectations—he often changes his mind without warning and blames others for his own mistakes. He can't even answer a simple yes or no question if you ask him a question. He loves beating around the bush instead of being direct about what he wants. If something goes wrong, you’ll be the first to take the fall. Navigating his moods is a challenge in itself, and many have found it mentally exhausting over time.

Pros

It seems to be a growing field in a shrinking, ever over-specializing industry. Every day is different.

Cons

I left before I got fired. After over twenty years at a research university in IT, suddenly I was not respected. The management tries very hard but unfortunately seems unable to not hurt its employees emotionally.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and for the time you spent with us. Transitions between different types of IT environments can be challenging, especially when moving from long-established institutional settings into a fast-paced, client-driven business. The expectations, pace, and feedback cycles can feel very different, and it’s not uncommon for that adjustment to be difficult. Our intent has always been to treat people with respect while holding clear expectations around accountability, deadlines, and execution. When those expectations or communication styles don’t align, it can understandably feel frustrating or discouraging. We appreciate the thoughtful tone of your feedback and your acknowledgment of the team and the opportunities in the field. We wish you the best in finding an environment that aligns well with your experience and working style.
