Pros

Build great relationships with clients and making a impact in clients lives.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they're doing. Youth specialist often bring up issues that are going on with the clients, only for it to be ignored. Staff have been verbally, physically, sexually, and emotionally abused many times and management did nothing. It wasn't until management began to feel the disrespect that they decided to "make and change" and determine that certain clients were not fit for the program. Management often pretends to be concerned with issues and start "planning" to fix them then once the fire has died down, management will once again ignore the issue. Even though the youth specialists had been telling them this information for a whole year! If you tell management something about the clients, you will get ignored but if one of the clients make an accusation about you, you will be fired, (even if the client is known for making up lies)

Pros

Not where I was located.

Cons

First of all, do not self disclose if you have a disability. I can only speak from the experience of the location I was at but basically you will be mocked by your supervisor and she will call you out on the spot in a room full of colleagues if she thinks you are wrong or doesn't like the way you speak. If you bring up a concern all you will get is attitude rather than a professional response. Condescending as hell. They pick and choose what consumers they are going to put more effort into and are very good at making there feelings about clients that they don't like known to staff.

Thank you for your comments. All of our departments/programs are supported by a HR Business Partner who would have worked with you on any of these issues including actively engaging you in the interactive process as a part of the Americans with Disabilities Act if they had been made aware of a concern. In addition to that resource, we also have available a Compliance Manager if an employee does not feel like their concerns are being addressed.

Pros

I can't think of any.

Cons

People are encouraged to go behind your back. Training is a joke. You get told once and better remember every detail. Asking questions later will get you a write up.
