I have been working at Sanlam full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Having the ability to make a difference for our clients and their future. The organisation is going through change but to improve the way in which we serve our clients. It is an exciting time to join the organisation to be able to share your opinion and the ability to make a real difference, for a corporate company this is rare to find. The Executive team are always willing to listen to new ways of 'doing things' and...

      Cons

The minority, but you can't win over the hearts and minds of everyone. A few individuals being negative isn't out of the ordinary for any organisation.

      Advice to Management

Continue to keep working on different ways to share communications (quarterly roadshows, webinars, conferences etc) it makes all the difference.

I have been working at Sanlam full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Flexibility, city centre offices, charity events, leadership team with right intentions, plenty of opportunity! Where there is change there is opportunity and this is certainly true of Sanlam at the moment. The company was in need of updating its back office systems and embarked on this a year or so back. As these changes are being implemented there are pockets of resistance and negativity, which is natural but unfortunate....

I have been working at Sanlam full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

After reading a handful of these reviews, the negativity is rather dramatic. If I am honest, the company still has a long way to come but it is getting there. Much has improved since joining 3 years ago and it is clear that the focus goals are the employees welfare and making the company as successful as possible. The problem with the Bristol office (most likely some of the other offices too) are the employees that...

      Cons

Too much change is not good. Lack of resource – most teams in the Bristol office could do with at least 1 or 2 more members of staff.

      Advice to Management

Continue to communicate into the company about everything that is happening - good or bad. Employees that are unhappy - leave.

I have been working at Sanlam full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

      - Sanlam in the UK has all the necessary pieces to become exceptionally successful - I have had the opportunity to be exposed to a huge amount of varied work covering the Life-Co, Financial Planning, Wealth Management and Asset Management - Steps in the right direction are being taken in order to fix the legacy technology issues that have arisen through the acquisition of the various businesses - I have lots of flexibility...

I have been working at Sanlam full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

It is modernising, change challenging and both at times fun and at times scary! 75% of the people really want to make the changes work 25% ant to stay in the old way. Huge opportunity for the business and there is always something happening sometimes management mess up but normally admit it and change. There are some reviews on here that are pretty negative and don’t represent the business I know and colleagues around...

      Cons

Constant change is really tiring but we have to go thru it every business is doing it. We just need everybody to get behind it The it would happen quicker

      Advice to Management

Keep going and help us to be successful continue to empower it. Keep talking to the business and come to the Bristol office more often .

      Negative Outlook

I have been working at Sanlam full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Good locations and flexible hours. There a lot of nice teams like middle office admin, IT, marketing and the planners who all work extremely hard at what they do.

      Cons

Senior managers at Sanlam UK are more worried about their own egos than the way the company is run. It is not a company for young people, especially females and there is no genuine support from female members of the Execuutive. The is no realisation of the pressure everyone is under and it’s de-motivating to hear about all the perks senior managers in London get while the rest of the business gets nothing. There...

I worked at Sanlam full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Hands down, the staff you meet are some of the best people to work with. This is really the only reason people stay for so long. Or if you are no longer interested in progressing and just want to be paid at the end of the month.

      Cons

There is little belief in what you are told on a day to day basis. Little support and people are still leaving ( or being thrown under the bus ). Glad I escaped. All these positive reviews in sooooo short a time?

      Advice to Management

Not that would be listened to. SA Sanlam may be different.
