Pros

Have plenty of markets (carriers).

Cons

This is a family run business and most of the new hires are family. There are 2 rules to remember, the first is that the family member are not subject to any rules. The second rule is that they can make, change and alter all the rules at their discretion.. For example, if you are licensed in P&C and want to get your health license (or vice verse) to cross sell clients, you are not allowed to sell. However the family members are allowed. If you refer a producer from the other department who is not a member of the family, sometimes they will put a stop to it and put a family member on the group.

Pros

Some of the people act nice, but in this environment you can not trust anyone.

Cons

The owners steal accounts from producers. Create reasons to not pay commissions.

Pros

The office building we are in is pretty nice. We are close to a few restaurants which makes having lunch easier.

Cons

The ownership has no issue with making policy exceptions for themselves or family members who work here and of the new hires are family. However, they will site their ISO status as a reason why an employee has to follow a certain bizarre rule. If it involves a request to invest into something meaningful for the business, they will state that it is the producer's responsibility. Other agencies provide these types of items to their producers. The owner's father started this business and grew it. The sons, who are the current owners do not invest back into the company. They simply take a large portion of your earned commission for the "privilege" of selling through their agency and supply less support, tools, software than other agencies. They will not cover any of your expenses such as mileage or lunches.

While it is difficult to read these comments, we appreciate the feedback and continue to encourage all former and current associates to provide us with constructive criticism. We work on our business every single day, seeking to create a culture that our team is proud to be a part of. We are a close-knit firm and live by our company core values of integrity, independence, advancement and commitment. Our culture is built from the bottom up, not from the top down. It is the team who decides who fits with the firm. We are fortunate to have some of the best insurance professionals in the industry. Their expertise, intellect and work ethic is second to none. However, the work is complex and highly competitive. Not everyone will succeed, particularly if they don’t have critical behavioral traits like honesty, intelligence, drive, flexibility and the ability to problem solve. For those reading these reviews and wondering whether this is a good place to work, we invite you to talk with our associates – they are Schauer Group.
