Pros

Health benefits everything else horrible. They expect you to live and sleep and worry about Sears optical 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Cons

Horrible working conditions. Sears as a company does not maintain their stores. Since you work in the optical you get to deal with things like, no hot water in department, no heat and poor comfort controls during the summer. It's like no one in Sears can operate a thermostat. The optical is outdated and has frames models from three years ago. The lab which is owned by the parent company Luxottica retail is run the same way. Minimum staff and hard to handle work loads.. Not enough hours to properly run the store The amount of paperwork is insane Conference calls all the time about the same stuff They infer that you have to think and act like a long term owner...in other words the management will dump loads of work on you and expect it do get done while staying within their crazy hours to sales guidelines. Basically work off the clock...

Pros

Not a hard job if you like helping people see clearly.

Cons

Micro-Management from your peers not your actual region manager. Very hard to get coverage for your store for off time and vacation. Called off of vacation twice.. Customer service is very hard when it takes 2 weeks for customers to get glasses especially when they could just got to LensCrafters and get them in an hour. Lab absolutely ruins your sales and your customers hopes, constantly having delays and at the end of the quarter there is a push to get orders shipped causing errors and just "funky" work that really sucks to hand to a customer when you know it was a rushed job and didn't get the attention all orders deserve.
