Pros

Allowed to work from home 1 day a week.

Cons

Harrassed by management for not fitting their exacting attitude and lifestyle specifications. Accused of not working hard enough after putting in nights and weekends. The managers choose favorites. I was berated and yelled at for telling a client that we would deliver a product on time. Was punished for coding mistakes that we were also learning at the same time. Company cares more about image of the company than quality code and continuing client relationships. Pay is below what programmers usually make while still on salary which allows them to ask for overtime every week with no extra pay. Was told there is no place for creativity in their business.

Pros

High energy, brilliant leaders and just an all-around good mission. Shift3 is a social impact software company, so many of the products they make benefit people's lives. The corporate culture is open, collaborative, accepting, and progressive. The benefits are outstanding and they care about your personal growth and your work/life balance. It's a real rarity to come across a company like this in the Central Valley. They also pay Bay-Area-level salaries despite being located in the Central Valley.

Cons

Some may view an agile, fast-paced atmosphere as a con, but it's definitely not.
