Pros

Aside from the many perks (which I'll cover shortly), the main reason I love Silktide is its culture and people. Everyone is treated as an equal and trusted to work to the common good of the company. Although I'm part of the senior leadership team, the company structure is fairly flat. Everyone's opinions, ideas, and thoughts are valid. We have monthly whole-company meetings to talk about our future direction (which, incidentally, is extremely exciting), so everyone is in the loop. In terms of perks, we get to choose our own technology (Windows, Mac, or yes, even Linux), along with all the toys to make your work life better (nice monitors, chairs, and anything else you need to do your job). Ongoing training (during work hours) is encouraged so there's always an opportunity to improve your own skillset. Gym memberships and work-life balance are important. Since we became a fully remote team in 2020 (with the option to visit the office if we want), working hours have become entirely more flexible than they already were. So for those of you with families and children, this flexibility is perfect. We don't watch the clock, we just get our work done. Working with a team of super-smart people is incredibly motivating. I would say that in terms of genuinely feeling happy at work and enjoying my role, Silktide totally fits the bill for me. Working remotely full time has really changed my life in terms of freeing up my commuting time. Slack and Zoom keep us connected so we've never really isolated, and I've still got the option to head to the office if I want to.

Cons

I wouldn't say there were any major cons with working at Silktide. Yes, of course, we could always use more good people to help us grow a little faster, as this is a super exciting time for us. My todo list is enormous, but I don't see this as a con at all, rather an opportunity to get stuck in.

Pros

I created Silktide to be the kind of company I would want to work for. That sounds obvious, but apparently it's not. We believe in hiring great people and aim to give them the trust, freedom and support to do what they do best. Mostly, that means getting out of their way, and giving them blocks of uninterrupted time to focus. Our products are fantastic (we get customer fan mail!) and our scope is somewhere between "highly ambitious" and "are you insane". That's not for everyone, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Since 2020 we've been fully remote, and loving it. It's made us a better company, given us more time, and made it possible for anyone to work wherever they want. Even after the pandemic is over, I expect us to stay remote-first forever.

Cons

We're growing fast, which can mean less structure than some people are used to. We're not known to dwell on fixed roles or formal processes.

Pros

I would highly recommend Silktide to anyone and here is why, • Supportive and friendly culture • Sincerely cares for your well-being inside and outside of work demonstrated by a Happiness Manager and mental health trained employee • Flexible working environment and responsibility provided early on in your career • You are encouraged to share ideas which will be taken onboard • Lots of training within the onboarding process • Silktide has an awesome product! • Many perks such as a home office budget and new laptop • The employees are genuinely nice people who want to support one another • The CEO engages and gets to know all employees which is very rare to find

Cons

I have really struggled to think of many cons but here are my few, • The business is growing quickly which does create a fast-paced work environment and in turn large work loads • Being 100% remote made it harder to build relationships outside of your department. It does also result in missing out on important conversations you would naturally overhear in an office environment.
