Pros

1. The ability to have different days off if need be (2 random days during the week) 2. Meeting new people and some co-workers are pleasant

Cons

There are too many con's to working for Singh Management. During my time at the company I experienced so many negative aspects. 1. Poor training/experience of management - they have 'sales' meetings with leasing every month but most of what is discussed will never be implemented on the site level. Everything has to be approved with management, they don't even trust leasing consultants to run a credit check on their own but trust them to work weekends alone and handle all resident applications which is odd. Managers have a 'do as I say not as I do' attitude and treat staff as their personal assistants. Managers also blame leasing staff for any failure within the company or if occupancy percentage is low and 'punish' them. Fact is, they need to stop putting cheap equipment into their apartments. 8 out of 10 tours the prospects point out the cheap equipment and appliances that are not luxury to them. We have to overcome a lot of obstacles and in the end the consultants didn't build or design the company. We can only sell to a certain point but when the property is undesirable then they should FIX the property, not blame leasing. 2. The workload is not given evenly to all employees. Some get free passes and assistant managers/managers pass their work onto the leasing when unnecessary. Some co-workers are pure lazy and managers accept that, make excuses for them not to do something. When things are busy, leasing consultants are running around juggling people and tasks where the managers are in their offices offering little help. You have to leave the property if you don't want to be bothered or have to work on your lunch time. 3. Any sort of reporting to managers on misconduct by employees or unethical practices are frowned upon. You get an ear full of excuses covering others up and are not believed or taken seriously. Reporting takes strength and courage from employees but you get 'punished' instead. 4. Things can be hostile/competitive while working with commission. Some employees are cut throat and sneaky about taking prospects from others, even manipulative. Things get unfair and managers turns the other cheek. 5. You get 2 random days off each week, sometimes not together. Very rarely do you get a weekend off and when requesting PTO it's frowned on, so is calling in sick when you are really sick. In the summers they have extended hours where you work 9 hour days. 6. There are no benefits to working at this company. The company has a holiday party that is only for managers and at the corporate level and for their vendors - all other employees are not invited. You get to go out to a restaurant with your site for your holiday party. You do not get a Christmas bonus or yearly bonus, there is a cut off for how much you can make hourly. You can get healthcare/dental benefits but they are not that good and don't cover much. The company does not match or contribute to your 401K and you get very little PTO your first year, only 4 days for the entire year to use for sick, personal and vacation.

Singh Management Response

Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such detailed feedback on what you did not enjoy about working for Singh Management. I am pleased to say that many of the concerns you mentioned have been improved since your review in December, 2014. In the almost three years, we have added many additional roles to our Human Resources team. This has allowed us to better train management and evaluate the processes within our company. A recent program we have implemented is an Emotional Intelligence Training series for our staff at Singh Management. This training teaches healthy ways to handle sensitive situations in the workplace, such as the competitive nature while working with commission that you mentioned. Specifically in regards to your comment of lack of benefits to working at Singh – this has dramatically changed! We are proud that we are able to offer our full-time employees a very competitive benefit program. Some of these benefits include: competitive pay, medical, dental, and vision, matching 401(k), referral bonuses, and paid time off. Again, thank you for your feedback. We’re always looking for ways for improve at Singh and your review has allowed us to address the areas we may have missed in delivering a great experience for you. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Office staff and colleagues overall are warm and friendly and very easy to work with. There is a great sense of "Team" in the office environment. The CEO is always accessible and takes time to answer questions and listen to concerns. However, the CEO is not directly involved in the daily operations in some Singh corporations and is usually unaware of the true conditions of the work environment. Close business relationship with the senior communities and care services. Benefits are reasonably priced (Lower than Obama Care and meets affordable healthcare guidelines) - Medical, dental, vision, and 401K

Cons

Discrimination- There are several opportunist within the company who makes deals behind the scenes for personal gain, which is unethical and devalues the company, making operations less functional and creates an overall hostile working environment. Poor training/experience of upper management employees- Lack of credentials (and education) poor written and communication skills, no real sense of care services and operations. Inappropriate and impulsive conduct used when communicating with office staff partnered with very rude and condescending tone and attitude towards field staff. Dishonesty- Employees will manipulated their situation to seem competent and knowledgeable, claiming to have done the work of other employees to help position themselves in queue for opportunities and advancement within the company. The intent of some managers are secretive, unstable and misleading, working to satisfy personal goals and ignoring the objectives of the corporation. Displacement- Failures or less than satisfactory outcomes achieved by the company are places on non-management personnel. Decision makers are not being responsible or being held accountable for their poor organizational and management skills. Whistle blowing- any reports of misconduct or unethical business practices have been proven to be frowned upon. Employees tend to be more productive in a safe and comfortable environment and reporting misconduct takes personal courage and dignity. Yet, such employees are rewarded with demotions, reductions in hours or termination. Workload- is not distributed properly, creating unnecessary stress and work overload for middle and lower management. Lack of support and accountability from upper management.

Pros

Company has a good reputation in the Detroit area. Colleagues are generally coopertive and fun. Meetings are kept to a minimum.

Cons

Very top-down organization. Management does not want feedback/questions/ideas from staff in the field. Some positions have insanely high turnover - stay away from these.
