Pros

- Good diversity only at individual contributor level - Everyone is kind and helpful, onboarding is great

Cons

- Pay is much lower than competitors (20-25k). Attrition rate amongst engineers is high because of this. You'll be given an offer that they refuse to negotiate with but told that your career opportunities there are great to make up for it. You'll receive a "quiet promotion": more responsibilities for 1k extra per year. - Incredibly misleading about diversity and inclusion. Leadership is all white men, "bro culture". Top heavy org that talks about diversity but fails to offer diverse role models - Slalom masks layoffs as "performance" issues as you will be asked to work about 5 full time jobs at a time. If you don't, then your performance isn't according to their silly little Excel sheet they use to assess your skills. - Glassdoor reviews are engineered and don't reflect reality - 1 month after onboarding they ask you to write reviews here with the purpose of maintaining their score and status - Impossbible to switch projects, you'll find yourself working on extremely uninteresting platforms - Most clients are very enterprise-oriented and it's common to deal with legacy systems. If you're looking to work with cutting-edge technology, look elsewhere. - Make sure you always say the right words, always say yes to socials, because this is what gets you promoted.

Hi there, this is Greg Martin. I’m sorry that your experience is not meeting your expectations or our intentions. Feedback, even that which is especially difficult to read, is essential to us so we can continue to improve. My door is open, and I’d appreciate the opportunity to connect directly to understand your feedback more deeply. I commit to treating any such conversations as private and with discretion.

Pros

My manager was an absolute star

Cons

The entire ethos at Slalom stems from an almost cult-like attitude. I cannot in good conscience recommend Slalom as an employer for this reason alone. Doing it "the Slalom way" seems to be more important than doing it right.

Pros

Decent pay - thats about it if you want to build proof of concept chatbots its great

Cons

Lost all transparency recently. Company make big announcements that seem to have little meaning, you can spend 2 hours watching presentations and they say absolutely nothing. On top of that people seem to be dropping like flies, there were announcements last year about redundancy in the UK and we were told it would be open and transparent, however today I just tried to message someone else who was a lead in a technology and found out they have been made redundant with no announcement (assuming this as their account is not active) this happened with around 5 people that I used to engage with for specific work. I have no idea why these people are not allowed to tell people they are leaving, it's a terrible look and makes me concerned about my job, if people are being axed without the rest of us knowing, how safe is my job. On top of this, the work, it's just boring now. Since the big AI boom the direction from the top was to focus on AI projects, companies dont seem to be willing to pay for proper projects in this, so we end up doing meaningless chatbot proof of concepts that last for at most 2 weeks. I joined consultancy to work on bigger projects and work with big teams working within orgs, not small scrappy teams knocking out quick demo style projects. On top of this management is awful here, our managers dont work on our projects, they have to be billable, so whatever time they have for me is either meaning they short change their client work, or they have to work extra hours to make it up - this often means 1:1's are rushed or skipped - plus they have 5 other people they manage too, so are just overburdened
