Pros

Nothing can be called to be Pro!

Cons

There is nothing in this company other than politics. I was hired as a Sr.SRE with skills on kubernetes, terraform, AWS. There are politics around this role from day 1 and was literally not allowed to work as there was another team whose responsibilities conflicted with mine. There was 0 professionalism and people are rude, raged. Guess what, leadership constantly encouraged it and lead me to leave the company. If you are offered a similar role, just be careful. There won’t be anyone to support. Most importantly, there is 0 job security for any role, anyone can be laid off at any moment, and there is no employee friendly culture here. Just hire, torture and fire culture.

Pros

In the midst of all the company's problems, there's one small good thing – the idea of "unlimited PTO." But the company is seriously short-staffed, most of us are already working extra hours. So, having unlimited "paid" time off doesn't really mean much when you have already put in horrendous amount of extra hours.

Cons

* Executive Management * - The company's in a tough spot right now. The higher-ups have been changing a lot in the past year, and the new gang is all about being profitable. They've laid off folks three times since mid-2022. It seems these layoffs are not only a result of broader economic conditions but they are also specific to the Smarsh's goal for profitability. Look at the Glassdoor ratings trend – they've dropped from over 4 to 2.7 in just a year. That speaks volumes! * Product Management * - The company's quest for profitability is changing the company culture. Product management has been made powerful and the engineering departments weaker. Some really visionary engineering leaders were booted out abruptly leaving their teams feeling down in the dumps - Then there are those product managers who act like spoiled kids, bossing around engineers without really having the right. That kind of attitude is toxic. - Honestly, the company needs technical product managers who get the tech stuff and can balance it with what customers need. * Engineering Management * - There are engineering bosses who seem torn between coding and managing – and they're leaning towards coding. They're taking cool tasks for themselves and not paying much attention to the folks they're supposed to manage. It's like they're just not into the management gig.
