Pros

The environment is always fast paced and no two days are alike. There is always something new and exciting being worked on or discussed and the different departments tend to work well together. The brand is very strong and the employees are hard working. Good social activity outside of the office. Entrepreneurial Philosophy, Great Reputation in the Marketplace, Customer Focused, Involved Owners, Global Presence, Financially Stable, Latest and Greatest Technology in Use,Closed on Weekends, Decent Benefits Package, Multiple Health Plan Options, Profit Sharing

Cons

Small company "mindset" and decisions from time to time, Office is in Itasca and commute can be tough when weather is bad, parking situation at main office can be a challenge. Top level leadership needs to be more proactive in ensuring infrastructure is in place ahead of marketplace demands.

MIx of Mostly Bad and Some Good

Pros

Employees are close to each other and hang out outside of work as well Good benefits (Although medical insurance cost is very high) - 401K w/ matching, profit sharing Very profitable - no layoffs even when economy went bad Good product with a good reputation Good sales training - good customer service

Cons

Very difficult to make more money or advance- They will switch you from salary, back to hourly - then cut your hours, then back to salary - very clever way of keeping pay down Outsourced human resources (Tandem) is awful - Technically you work for Tandem, not Solberg Mfg - and they are there to keep employee costs down for Solberg - as well as functioning as a front for employees on the shop floor with questionable work authorization Way too many managers - very vertical- so many layers of middle management it can be hard to figure out what to do when conflict between them arises Frequent yelling, conflict, swearing, and overall harsh treatment of employees - old school - get the job done - don't question - or you're out the door Heavy favoritism Loaded with sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, of the owners hich means any and all opportunities for advancement that arise go to them. Very strict on time off - very strict on sick days - very strict on leaving work early for any reason (i.e doctors appointment) Bought 2 million dollar solar array the same year they told employees the company didn't make enough money for bonuses

SOLBERG pursues growth with purpose

Pros

Company lives their mission statement and guiding principles. The employees care for one another. There are new challenges daily and co-workers are asked to support the culture of helpfulness. Mid-sized company with global reach that is a lot of fun. Under family ownership and leadership.

Cons

In growth phase... company is sorting out best way forward. Decisions are carefully considered and, as a result, sometimes more time-consuming than needed.
