33% positive business outlook
Pros
Great company culture, lots of growth potential and strong leadership!
Cons
Not too many downsides to working for this company!
Pros
-The company is definitely moving in the right direction in gaining their own traction in the Mobile and Video ad space, as well as Programmatic offerings. -The culture is great and very family oriented and always have employee lunches -Very casual work environment (listen to music all day, walk around the open office and speak to anyone anytime, free snack galore, 2 big screen TV's in both kitchens to take a much needed break any time)
Cons
When you occupy certain positions (ie Camapign Manager) you will not have any time for family or friends. Because the internet is 24/7 and this is an internet advertising network, you HAVE to work ALL the time. Whether it's a weekend, holiday (Christmas Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.) you always need to have your computer with you to manage your campaigns. If you are a younger contributor without a family and are able to get a decent salary negotiated, it's a great place. Just be prepared to work constantly if you go there as a Campaign Manager. All other positions have a great work/life balance.
Pros
I can honestly say this has been the best job/company I have worked for. From the work aspect - constantly learning/evolving due to different product roll outs and you actually feel your work is contributing to the company. The culture is amazing as well- have summers "work from anywhere fridays", free lunches delivered from peapod, health insurance 100% paid for, great maternity leave policy in addition to awesome coworkers. Upper management is very supportive and will help assist where they can. Having had a variety of different career jobs, i know when a company treats their employees right so I'm appreciate of working here!
Cons
The headquarters and Operations is located in CA, so with the time difference, execution on things can be delayed.
Pros
Started working at Specific Media shortly after graduating college. The company [had] and amazing culture and strong products. The office is beautiful, tons of food, fun people, lax business environment, 100% paid benefits, paid vacation time. They valued references and promoting from within. They were eager to give inexperienced people responsiblity to grow within the company and beyond. Very collaborative teams, strong training programs, open door policy. Employees are able to be autonomous and innovative. Specific Media saw great success, and was a launching pad for many over the years.
Cons
Over time the culture has been deteriorated by over-working and under paying employees. There is huge income inequality both inter-departmentally and across departments. Company started engaging in questionable business practices. Many execs have left the company and many other employees have followed. Hiring standards have lowered, compensation has continued to decrease. Investments are not being made in technology. Many band aids are used to cover up short-comings. Low morale due to lay-offs, and poor work-life balance.
Pros
Brillant strategic leadership, cutting edge technology and amazing company culture. Most intelligent coworkers in the industry. Pushes you to reach new career/intelIectual heights. Incredible company sponsored events. Free food/beverages/beer. Competitive Salary, Fantastic benefits. HR has been a great partner to myself and other leaders of the org...not your typical paper pushers.
Cons
Because the company is continuing to grow so rapidly, I put extra hours in...however, when you love what you do, it's so worth it!!!
Pros
Peer culture is great and for the most part everyone is very supportive (outside of management).
Cons
For a mid-sized company, SM is very poorly managed and disorganized with lack of resource allocation and efficient systems in place. Most of the employees have been there for years, but for a new hire coming in, the training (lack thereof) and support system leaves a lot to be desired. Be prepared to be set up to fail from the beginning. Certain offices in the company are managed very much like a frat house with new employees expected to pass a series of "hazing" tests. The culture is very much, "not a good fit until proven otherwise" instead of being a culture of positive reinforcement and support for new hires, whom management chose to bring in. Management will not spend any time with new employees and little to no training will be given (other than that which comes from sitting with peers). Inter-office communication is very poor and there's a lot of unnecessary politics, which are just overkill in such a small office. Staff are not treated as empowered professionals, but rather, like overgrown college students (complete with written tests, hazing, team competitions and micro-management). This company will be a very frustrating experience for someone with tenured experience at a traditional media giant who has been trained in being a brand ambassador and marketing partner to senior level clients. For these individuals, throw all of your training out the window and do the opposite of what your instincts tell you to do (except for if your instincts tell you to run screaming in the opposite direction). Good luck!
Pros
Salaries were decent, working conditions were nice (free food, fun team building), nice building to work in, free parking and access to the airport
Cons
The owners have a frat house culture and promote their friends. Promotions aren't based on ability, but who they like the most. If you are serious about getting a good foundation to take to another job, this isn't the place for you.
Pros
I actually like working here. The people are amazing and the company itself has many perks and benefits. Great place to learn about the digital advertising realm.
Cons
I feel very underutilized. You learn what you need for the position and that is it. There isn't the chance to learn something new unless you move to a different position. Upper management will not teach you anything new that they do because they obviously dont trust you enough. Also, the seniority card is played way too much.
