Really disappointing

Pros

- Salary levels were reasonable - Some smart people

Cons

- Maybe Spendesk was a good place to work one day, but it must have been at least 3-4 years ago. It feels like there have been several year's worth of bad decisions and poor leadership hires and the cumulative impact of that together with the current operating model and culture make it unsurprising the company is facing a dire situation - The product is no where near as good as the competition any more and I lack confidence it will regain competitiveness. - Leadership is poor - painfully slow decision-making, lack of visibility and engagement with teams. - Complaisance - especially among team members who have been there several years and don't seem to have noticed market realities.

An awful place to be

Pros

Smart and nice CEO, seems like a really good guy. Pretty good benefits for a start up/scale up. Once was a good product...

Cons

Where do I even start... I couldn't echo enough all the "fire and hire" comments and bullying people out of the business. They went out of control 2 years ago with ridiculous, not thought through and simply stupid hiring goals to just then started bully people out. It doesn't matter how hard you work and how much you give, it's never enough. Especially in such political environment, I've never seen anything like this before, worse than a corpo. Maybe it's because a lot of management comes from corpos and brought their culture with them. It would be fine if they at least knew what they are doing and actually worked but don't be mistaken. They don't move the finger, drop everything on you and then make you responsible for their jobs. Honestly, everyone on the Head of/Director level should be fired, it would do the company an enormous favour. On top of the lack of management, there's also a chaos caused by indecisiveness (probably because the management is out of their depth), lack of processes, lack of support, messy structure, changing priorities and generally everyone leaving because it's awful there. The once good product fell behind the competition a lot and is now unsellable. Quarter after quarter bad decisions made by the ELT team which is full of excuses and trying to turn it around and blame on it being a start up that is constantly evolving. BS, you have slowly destroyed this company. Extremely toxic environments full of gossip, lies, people bad mouthing each other, throwing each other under the bus etc. Great values, just no one lives them.

Hi there, First and foremost, thanks for your feedback. Sharing your experience, whether positive or negative, is deeply appreciated and your input helps us prioritise areas where we need to do better. (Responding quickly to your feedback is also an area we fell short on 🙈). Organisational culture and change management have a big impact on everyone in a company. Our goal is to ensure Spendesk is an excellent place to work, with a culture that is positive and supportive. Despite our efforts, we may not get everything right and are genuinely sorry that you’ve had these experiences. Rest assured that your input on attrition, management, and living the values is being taken seriously. We’d also be really keen to discuss together further with you. If you’re open to it, you can reach out to us directly at support@spendesk.com and we’ll set up some time.
