HR is completely unprofessional. I was asked to pay back a “retention bonus” which they had conveniently forgot to mention is my leaver’s letter and leaving arrangements. They got in touch with me months later to ask me to pay the gross amount. I was away for personal reasons, which prevented me to see the emails, and I was threatened with legal action. When I challenged the fact that they did not mention any of this during my exit process, they never apologised for the distress caused, and instead accused me of “lying to get out of it”. As I progress my career in an Investment Firm as a potential costumer of Stifel, I will avoid as much as possible to work with them and when asked for references I high discourage anyone to work there/hire them as Corporate Finance advisers, given their lack of transparency and tact when interacting with people in difficult situations.
