Pros

This is a great place to work as long as you invest in it. Prospect, build relationships with accounts, and learn from their training. They equip you well and really make it impossible not to find success quickly.

Cons

But once you've sold between $750K and $1M, start looking around for a new opportunity. Every year management will ask you what you expect to sell based on the following: your jobs that are forecasted to close, your relationship with accounts that you think will buy from you, and residual sales. However, they will raise your quota above what you expect regardless of the opportunity you have to meet it. If you have worked to prospect, built relationships with accounts, and learned from their training, then you've done all you can. But in the end they won't take that into consideration when they raise your quota and you cannot achieve it. One more thing and it is just as important, since you should be focused on building relationships. Management is more worried about short term revenues than long term residual business. I've seen, on a number of occasions, situations where they would rather charge the customer when the product doesn't live up to the expectations that the customer has than to take even partial credit and pay for any sort of repair. Of course this jeapordizes future business with the account and makes it even more difficult to meet the quota that management sets.

Pros

Descent products with ease of on-site production. Strong marketing and sample materials. No concern with vacation costs because taking them are frowned upon. Thats about it.

Cons

Highest pressured sales company in the building materials arena. Unrealistic expectations with goals and tactics to achieve sales numbers. Too many layers of management with mid-level sales managers primary functions of micro-managing, report creating and brow-beating fear mongering tactics to promote numbers volume. Self defeating in construction based sales.

Thanks for reaching out. We take great pride in our ability to manufacture the best products we can here in the USA! As a result of our double digit growth for the past 20+ years, we are always investing a great deal of resources into our training for both our Territory Sales Reps and our Sales Managers. The consistent growth has also allowed us to bring on more support both in the field with our sales management team, along with more resources at the corporate level. All of our employees have been a huge contributor to our sustained success. Best wishes!

Pros

HQ training is strong. Good samples and HQ support upon request.

Cons

It's a very difficult product to sell vs. competition because of price and reputation. They've pissed enough people off over the years that competition has the upper hand. My territory is dominated by competing former Stonhard sales reps selling against Stonhard's weaknesses: failed installation, higher price, poor performance, arrogant management. Also, sales people also have to be on-site project managers of installations....while still maintaining the expectation to provide a minimum number of quotes per week. Very Stressful. Stonhard also limits the accounts the reps can call on by industry but is inconsistent in enforcement of them. Very political. Very arrogant leadership not open to field suggestions for improvement. Their response, "We're the best, if you don't believe that, it's YOUR problem....the competition is not as good as us...I don't care what the customers say..."

Thank you for your response and we’re sorry things did not work out during your tenure here. We are constantly striving to maintain our place as a leader in the industry, not only with our product lines, but with the sales people we have selling those products. Your recognition of our strong training program is greatly appreciated. We are always looking at ways to increase our sales reps ability to sell, while still maintaining our ability to run a complete turn-key project. If you have any specific examples or ideas where we can improve, please contact Director of Corporate Services. Best of luck in your career.
