Pros

Hard to say any positive about this company. It is a miserable place.

Cons

Avoid this place at all costs, I will prefer to stay jobless instead !!! - Unethical practices / Poor Work Ethics - Hostile attitude towards employees - Too many dysfunctional exec level managers who undermine others - Management has no vision, really short-term thinking - Working here is a mental trauma Incompotent management. Expect swearing, disrespectful and insulting comments and undermining behavior on executive conf call and everyday work. This company is full of dysfunctional managers who cheat their clients, cheat hard working competent employees to get their fat paychecks. I am not exaggerating, This is a company that does not value employees at all!

STC - a story of luck vs judgement

Pros

Friendly, and usually reasonable, people. Occasional opportunities for travel, if that rocks your boat. A very international perspective on business and projects. Quite a 'non hierarchical' approach to internal communication - the org chart is not flat, but it's not too deep to see where responsibility lies ( except for the finance department....) . A generally flexible approach to working arrangements and HR issues.

Cons

STC's thinking is intrinsically reactive, rather than proactive - a mindset that stems from a long history as a body shop rather than an engineering company, although mergers and acquisitions have muddied the waters here. Career development considered as a process is ad hoc to the point of non existant. STC survives by leaning heavily on the ability of it's staff to be flexible and learn fast on the job - and hiring contractors. This doesn't always produce the best possible results. Much play is made of what little training is available - but that training must pass a 'relevance' test before you get it. In other word's, it's often learning on the job, just with some training material provided.
