Pros

There are some genuinely lovely people who are at the company. This is the only thing that made working here somewhat bearable, unfortunately they have all since either left, or been driven out of the company. Decent pay, probably because they're struggling to hire and retain staff.

Cons

Frequent and erratic changes create relentless uncertainty, with leadership often shifting directions. Your role may frequently change, adding responsibilities without any corresponding increase in pay or promotion. Employees often feel undervalued. Respectful treatment should be a given, but many feel like just another number on a spreadsheet. The level of micromanagement is excessive, with constant check-ins on your tasks. Management can sometimes seem unapproachable. Changes to your work without notice and delays due to introduced bugs can be frustrating. Instances of inappropriate comments and a lack of adequate HR response contribute to a negative culture. There is a noticeable blame culture from upper management. Tight deadlines are often set without sufficient notice, and when tasks aren’t finished on time, the team is blamed for having a "poor work ethic." This reflects poorly on leadership. Inconsistent office attendance policies add to the frustration. London-based employees who miss a day are required to work in an empty office the following week, while others enjoy full remote work without oversight. This level of control and micromanagement creates a demoralising work environment. The company’s claim of being "agile" does not match reality. Delivering large, unwieldy projects is the norm, and management’s understanding of agile principles seems flawed. If you prefer feeling valued and appreciated at work, this may not be the ideal place. The company’s approach often leaves employees feeling overworked and insignificant, with little regard for employee satisfaction. Recent staffing changes have created a cautious atmosphere where voicing any opinion contrary to higher-ups feels risky. High turnover, with many resignations in a short period, indicates underlying issues. Management tends to label departing staff negatively instead of self-reflecting. These issues are just the beginning. Considering joining? Scrutinise the negative reviews carefully. The positive reviews may not reflect the reality and could be attempts to mask the company’s deeper problems. Approach with caution.

Most dysfunctional place I've ever worked

Pros

• Pay is fair, but note they are not giving raises, and promotion and bonuses are opaque • There can be some flexibility in regards to home/office working, though this is applied inconsistently • A lot of lovely, talented, and supportive people in the trenches, who unfortunately are held back by those in leadership; unable to grow, unable to take any ownership, and unable to drive the product forward

Cons

Strongly hierarchical culture and top-down management --------------------- • Work is slow-paced, processes are bureaucratic with lots of overheads, and micromanagement is rife. Individuals are not empowered, and neither are they trusted • People in leadership positions are unsupportive and uncollaborative in the extreme. If they engage with you at all, they act as obstructive gatekeepers, rather than colleagues • They take a disdainful and sanctimonious attitude toward those they deem “worth less than them”, and will belittle and patronise you. Yet despite this, their work is some of the most amateur I’ve ever seen. They would not survive anywhere else • These people do not act as though they are accountable to the team. They have been allowed to do whatever they want unchallenged, routinely trampling on others’ work • They do not submit their work to the same scrutiny they expect of staff, and if you do offer feedback, they become defensive and vindictive Knowledge hoarding --------------------- • Information is tightly controlled and not freely available, despite constant chasing, and teams are siloed from eachother; making it difficult to do your job or have awareness of the wider context Blame culture --------------------- • Leadership will take credit when things go well. From shoutouts and company meetings you’d think they were singularly responsible • Yet when things go wrong, the team will be scolded and lectured, with no interest in addressing the root causes (they attend retros only begrudgingly) • If their work goes wrong, they do not take ownership. At best they try to ignore it, at worst they deflect and throw the team under the bus!!!! Chaotic requirements --------------------- • Priorities, deadlines, and requirements are changed at random, even mid-sprint • Unhappy clients are promised the world on short notice to assuage them, which we inevitably fail to deliver • This constant moving of the goalposts creates a mountain of technical debt and crunch time Disagreement is not tolerated --------------------- • They have no willingness to fix issues that keep on happening. Red flags were present from the very start, but I thought I could show them a better path. I could not, they have no interest in changing. Putting on a happy face is more important than being earnest.

Good if you are techy, not so much anything else

Pros

Flexible working from home arrangements and fair pay.

Cons

Despite claiming to be a non-hierarchical work place, this is the most toxic and hierarchal place I have ever worked in. All blockers come from the top creating an uncomfortable working environment with 'respect' created based off fear. Filled with passive-aggressive and patronising higher ups which spoil an otherwise ok company to work for.
